A captains innings of 46 from Haziq Rasheed, 7 wickets for Harsha and a Tournament Quarter-Final finish demonstrated the squad improvements achieved over this competition as Thailand well-earned their victory of 95 runs earlier today in a 45 overs per innings match.
Having been put into bat first, Thailand showed early discipline and showcased how to build an ODI innings, only to be bowled out for 296 by an amazing spell which brought the last 5 wickets for just 50 runs.
The chase from was balanced in the control of Thailand from the first over as they restricted Maldives veteran batters with glimmers of hope from Shafraz Jaleel (41 from 34 balls) and Haziq (46 from 48 balls). Hats off to the Thai bowlers with each man going for less than 6 runs per over.
CBM congratulates Cricket Thailand for an enjoyable game of a plan-well-executed cricket, they deserved the win and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the tournament.
Thanks as-well to the Asian Cricket Council for their commitment to providing such tournaments around the region and a special thanks to the hosting of the event from the Singapore Cricket Association. Excellent hospitality that will be remembered for a long time.
