ARC Maldives Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) is an organization with the a mission to protect and promote the rights and well-being of children of Maldives

ARC’s main areas of work include working closely with children’s shelters, advocacy and raising awareness on the rights of children through national and international outreach. ARC has a number of ongoing nationwide awareness campaigns:
- RESPECT Campaign on anti-bullying and anti-discrimination
- Surf Sm@rt Campaign on internet safety
- HEAL (Healthy Eating & Active Lifestyles)
- Road Safety
- Child Advocacy Network of Disability Organizations (CAN DO)
- HOPE (Heal, Outreach, Prevent, Empower) Campaign against Child Abuse

As a fun new addition to the Girls on the Go Camp, the girls took part in a skateboarding session! It was heartwarming to see them step outside their comfort zones, support one another and build confidence as they tried a new activity.

One of the highlights of our Girls on the Go Camp was the surfing lessons with Aloha Ufaa. It was amazing to see how much the girls progressed from their first day and how their confidence grew with each session.

The girls brought colour and creativity to our Girls on the Go Camp by painting a mural with guidance from Kula Dana. With “inhale” and “exhale” at its centre, the mural reminds us to pause, take a breath and make time to care for our mental wellbeing. It was a fun opportunity for the girls to try something new and create something meaningful together.
We appreciate Housing Development Corporation for supporting this special initiative, held in recognition of World Mental Health Day and the International Day of the Girl Child.

A big thank you to Bakes by Fira for preparing the snacks and lunch for our Girls on the Go Camp. The meals were healthy, delicious and full of colourful ingredients, and some of the girls even tried new vegetables for the first time!

Our Girls on the Go Camp kicked off with a mindful drawing session led by Creative Jous to mark World Mental Health Day. Through guided art activities and breathing exercises, the girls explored how creative expression can help them understand and regulate their emotions, manage stress, and express their feelings in healthy, positive ways.

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child and World Mental Health Day 2026, we are planning our 3rd “Girls on the Go” Camp in Hulhumalé with Aloha Ufaa!

Join us for two days of surfing and skateboarding lessons, a beach cleanup, mural painting, art activities to support mental wellbeing, a plastic recycling workshop, mindful movement and have healthy meals and snacks, all while making new friends and learning new skills!

ARC, in partnership with VitalCare Maldives, conducted health screenings at Salaahuddin School for over 630 students in Grades 1, 4, 7 and 9.

Each student received a comprehensive health assessment, while students and their parents were provided with health guidance tailored to their individual needs, along with referrals for further care where necessary.

This initiative was made possible with the generous support of Atmosphere Foundation.
