A major milestone for the Right to Information in the Maldives. πŸ‡²πŸ‡»

The National RTI Symposium 2026 opened today, bringing together government, Information Officers, civil society, media, academia and development partners to advance transparency, accountability and access to information across the country.
Hosted by the Information Commissioner's Office , the first national RTI Symposium creates a platform to take stock of progress, confront implementation challenges and strengthen how the right to information works in practice for people across the Maldives.

The opening also marked the launch of the ICO Strategic Action Plan 2026–2031 β€” a new five-year roadmap to strengthen transparency and accountability, accelerate digital transformation, and build institutional capacity and partnerships.

The Symposium is supported by the European Union through Project, and by the UN Development Programme Funding Windows, with contributions from Denmark πŸ‡©πŸ‡°, Luxembourg πŸ‡±πŸ‡Ί and the Republic of Korea πŸ‡°πŸ‡·.
