Hallu Vashi: Local Solutions for a Cleaner, Circular Maldives is a national call to identify and showcase local solutions that reduce plastic waste and support a more circular economy.

Whether you're an individual, business, community group, school, NGO, or council, we want to hear from you.

💡 From reusable products and recycling initiatives to repair services, community clean-ups, and e-waste solutions — if it helps reduce waste, it counts.

Selected solutions will receive visibility through storytelling, opportunities to connect with partners, and support to help grow their ideas.

UNDP Maldives is pleased to announce the selected grantees under the Maldives Resilient Reef Ecosystems and Economy for the Future (RREEF) Programme – GFCR Small Grants Window.

These community-led initiatives from Addu and Fuvahmulah will support coral-positive livelihoods, strengthen marine conservation efforts, and promote inclusive and sustainable solutions for reef resilience.
The selected grantees are:
🔹Maldives Ocean Plastics Alliance (MOPA) (Fuvahmulah)
🔹Women in Fuvahmulah (WIF) – Inclusive Aquatic Skills & Marine Livelihood Pathways (Fuvahmulah)
🔹United Movement for Awareness and Resilience (U.M.A.R) – SeaMade: Handmade from the Sea for the Sea (Addu)
🔹Nalafehi Meedhoo – Transforming Washed-up Seagrass into Organic Fertilizer for Sustainable Livelihoods (Addu)

Working with local CSO, NGO, and community partners, this initiative will advance innovative approaches to plastic reduction, circular economy practices, and ecosystem-based livelihoods, with strong participation from women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Highlights from the Award Granting Ceremony of the Maldives RREEF Programme – GFCR Small Grants Window.
