The Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) hosted a heartfelt farewell dinner at Hotel Jen, Male' to honor Mr. Zulqurnain Ahmad, the Deputy Head of the Pakistan Mission, and his wife, Mrs. Naila Zulqurnain, as they prepared to leave the Maldives on 17 July 2025, after completing his diplomatic assignment.
Ms. Mariyam Fizana Rasheed, Secretary General, and Mr. Hamdhoon Rasheed, Vice President of PMFA, warmly commended Mr. Zulqurnain's dedicated efforts in revitalizing the PMFA and strengthening the bonds between the people of Pakistan and the Maldives.
In his remarks, Mr. Zulqurnain expressed sincere appreciation for the PMFA's work in fostering closer ties and promoting mutual understanding between the two communities. He thanked PMFA's A/President Mr. Muhammad Tariq for continuing the organization's affairs in efficient coordination with EXCO Members. He emphasized the organization's vital role in further solidifying the existing friendship. He paid gratitude to the brotherly people of Maldives, the PMFA, and the Pakistani community for their close cooperation to him during his tenure. Additionally, he extended gratitude to the High Commissioners under whose leadership he served in the Maldives.
As the Maldives prepares to celebrate its Independence Day on July 26, Mr. Zulqurnain extended warm greetings and wished the country continued progress, development, and prosperity.
The farewell event was attended by PMFA EXCO members, distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps, and a mix of Pakistani and Maldivian fellows. The ceremony concluded with a symbolic farewell wishes cake cutting, representing the warm relationship and affection shared between the people of both countries. This event served as a fitting tribute to Mr. Ahmad's valuable contributions during his tenure in the Maldives.
