We’re mobilising against the planned land reclamation at Moolekede Fishimathi as a precursor to the planned World Environment Day activities. It is our constitutional and moral duty to protect and preserve the environment, and we cannot let such short-sighted, politically-aligned, unsustainable, and overall destructive projects encroach onto our natural heritage and climate resilience.

We’ll have canoeing and various other activities through which you can voice your views and demonstrate against this destruction. We’ll also be happy to answer any questions you may have about the project. Come join us from 15:00 to 18:00 at Fishimathi.

Some of our recent attempts on X to engage with Ministers and hold them accountable over the rezoning and downsizing of the Eidhigali Kilhi and Koattey (Addu Nature Park) Protected Area. The hypocrisy of celebrating World Biodiversity Day while continuing to facilitate acts of ecocide and leaving fragile ecosystems at the sole mercy of politicians who know nothing but to destroy and damage is unmistakably evident.

Do better, Minister.

Yesterday, on World Biodiversity Day, PTV and collaborated to organise a clean-up as part of a broader collective effort uniting organisations and movements across the Malè and Addu regions. Both events took place simultaneously at Villingili Funavaa and Hithadhoo Funavau. It was planned to prompt mobilisation and build unity among like-minded people, with the post-clean-up discussions revolving around current issues at a time when environmental degradation is widespread, and ecocide is being actively pursued by the state.

DHIVEHI TRANSLATION: Open letter from civil society organisations and local tourism actors for the urgent attention of President Dr. Muizzu, concerning the recent downsizing and rezoning of the Eidhigali Kilhi and Koattey (Addu Nature Park) Protected Area - likely done to facilitate continued acts of ecocide at Moolekede Fishimathi, Hithadhoo.

The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy has now gazetted a new boundary of Addu Nature Park without consulting the people of Addu or even the council.

The process was also hastily begun before the new Addu City Council was inaugurated, on the inaugural day.

This is a cowardly act by Minister Ali Shareef who is going out of his way to facilitate ECOCIDE without the CONSENT of the people of Addu.
Should we also remind you that Addu is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Minister?

We have also heard on the grapevine that the ERA is approving an EIA for this 2nd reclamation today. No stakeholders have been consulted for this EIA, and it's our first time hearing about it.

Hassaan Mohamed should not approve these bogus ElAs that do not have proper stakeholder consultations!

On 23rd December 2025, at “Youth Coffee with President”, President said that he will make sure there’s opportunities for youth to voice out their opinions about environmental impacts of projects at the very initial stage of project planning.

When will these opportunities come?

“When the big things feel out of control, focus on what you love right under your nose.”

We watched “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” — a short film following a boy’s search for home. It left us all feeling really introspective and made way for a great discussion afterwards.

This was our first collaboration with .drinks , many thanks for making it possible! Thank you to our friends .abdulla and for the lively post-movie chat.

Hope to see you all very soon!
