JDVU is a therapy Center that provide therapeutic services including occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, psychomotor therapy, clinical psychology in a multi sensory environment on a one to one basis to children having with a mental impairement . JDVU proposes different therapies for the therapeutic management of the children. The main therapies being provided are:
1) Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps and promotes independence and autonomy for a fulfilling life. It uses specific techniques and approaches to work on client-centred goals. It helps in gross motor skills, fine motor skills, Activities of Daily Living (dressing, eating etc), sensory problems, academic skills, pre-vocational and vocational skills, life skill training and play skills.
2) Speech and Language Therapy
Speech Therapy deals with children who have speech and language delay, swallowing difficulty , articulation and phonological disorder, drooling.
3) Psychomotor Therapy
It helps children having problems in body scheme, spatial orientation and organization, difficulties to attend to and concentrate at tasks. Other Services:
To support the existing therapeutic team, foreign experts in different fields, inexistent in Mauritius, (Neuropaedatricians, child psychiatrists) will be called in. Multisensory therapy based on the SNOZELEN concept
