For the past five years, Nou Zenfan Bois Marchand has been providing a safe space for children to grow beyond the classroom.

Every afternoon, Douglas Nelson and Joelle Legrand welcome them with a different approach — one with care, creativity, and a more engaging way of learning.

And over time, you can see the difference. The children grow more confident, speak up a little more, and find the courage to be themselves.

Standing together on the starting line for IBL on the Move

Thanks to Bloomage’s support, 10 beneficiaries from APEIM and 10 children from Nou Zenfan Bois Marchand will take part in the 6km race this Saturday.

This is what IBL on the Move is about - bringing people together for a good cause.

Some conversations are uncomfortable - but necessary.

According to a study done by Kantar Analysis, 26*% of Mauritians and 11*% of Rodriguans have experienced sexual violence before the age of 18. These are not distant realities. This is happening in our communities.

We recently welcomed Pedostop for an awareness session with the IBL Head Office teams to talk about child sexual abuse. It was an opportunity to better understand the issue, recognise the signs and know what to do when something doesn’t feel right.

At IBL, our values of Truth, Trust, Together matter most in moments like these. Through Fondation Joseph Lagesse, we work to ensure that every child can grow up in a safe, caring and protective environment. And that this starts with awareness, with accountability, and with the courage to act - even when it’s not easy.

À Maurice et à Rodrigues, trop d’enfants sont victimes d’abus sexuels. Une réalité difficile que nous ne pouvons plus ignorer.

Face à cette situation, la Fondation Joseph Lagesse a soutenu une étude menée par l’ONG Pedostop en collaboration avec Kantar Analysis en october 2024. Les résultats aident à comprendre ce que vivent les enfants et à agir pour mieux les protéger.

Parce que chaque enfant mérite de grandir dans un environnement sûr et bienveillant.

Et si le silence faisait plus de mal que les mots ?

Par pudeur, par gêne ou par peur de mal faire, parler de sexualité avec les jeunes reste souvent évité. Pourtant, ce sont justement ces conversations, simples et honnêtes, qui peuvent faire toute la différence.

Informer, ce n’est pas inciter. C’est donner des repères, rassurer, et permettre à chacun de grandir avec une meilleure compréhension de soi et des autres.

Au sein de la Fondation Joseph Lagesse, nous croyons en l’importance de l’éducation et du dialogue pour construire des parcours plus sereins et éclairés. Parce qu’accompagner les jeunes, c’est aussi leur donner les clés pour faire des choix conscients et responsables.
