HELPING OUR PEOPLE was established on Saturday 19th November 2011 in a meeting where the founder members decided that it was indeed time for real concrete action to take place in the fight against poverty. Helping Our People is committed to three main axes in its efforts towards alleviating the suffering of those living in difficult situations and in extreme poverty.
1. Any type of direct support
for genuine poverty cases

It is high time that new ideas and down-to-earth direct approaches are used to relieve people from the ills caused due to conditions extreme poverty.
2. The ''hypocrisy'' and lack of willingness to really eradicate the roots and causes of poverty from many of the various organizations that exist. ur Organisation is working towards an innovative model for sustainability of our actions. While most NGOs have diverted from direct aids due to the need of coming up with sustainable projects which are mainly community oriented, we still believe that those living in extreme poverty have other priorities such as getting adequate nutrition, decent living and a minimum shelter. Some pertinent questions that we ask ourselves are:
· How can a child who sleeps with a half empty stomach concentrate on school and study?
· How can a child who is deprived from basic necessary nutrition develop his brain enough to be able to pass through our school system effectively?
· How can a parent send his kid to school when that same parent is unable to find basic amenities needed for a decent living? This is what we define as conditions of extreme poverty and this is where very few initiatives and support are given to those vulnerable people. Everyone is opening pre-primary schools, setting up sports clubs and mounting courses for empowering women. But these are long term solutions whose pre-requisites for success rests on the eradication of absolute poverty conditions in the first instance. How does our organization plan to tackle the issue of sustainable financing and poverty alleviation through direct aid? We are working with our long stand partner Microsoft in an approach called the double impact initiative where we will receive funding to work on community based projects mainly targeting continuous professional development of educators and other related training then use the excess funds for direct help projects to families living under extreme poverty conditions. In that way we will work in the long term development and the common good of the community through education empowerment and directly alleviate and improve the conditions of living of those vulnerable people so that they can in turn concentrate on the building of a better livelihood for themselves and their families as well as future generations.
