We are pleased to share that one of our core members is currently participating in the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, being held in Istanbul, Türkiye! 🇹🇷

As AI and digital technologies continue to reshape our societies, empowering young people with the skills, awareness and ethical understanding needed to navigate these changes is becoming increasingly important. Building a trusted digital future requires informed, responsible and engaged youth who can harness innovation for the common good.

Over the past few years, GRSEYC has progressively expanded its work in this space. Last month, through our collaboration with Accenture, we brought together 40 young people from across Mauritius 🇲🇺 for the 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, providing participants with hands-on experience using AI-powered tools while exploring the opportunities, challenges and responsible use of emerging technologies.

Earlier in 2025, we hosted the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, promoting digital safety, cybersecurity awareness and responsible online behaviour among children, youth and community members.

Participation in this conference, therefore, represents a natural continuation of these efforts. It provides an opportunity to engage in international dialogue, learn from leading experts and practitioners, exchange experiences, and explore innovative approaches to digital transformation, AI and cybersecurity.

We look forward to bringing back new insights, ideas and partnerships that can further strengthen youth-led initiatives in Mauritius and contribute towards building more inclusive, resilient and future-ready communities.

The 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 are taking place right now in Cairo, Egypt. 🇪🇬

But why are we talking about this continental sports event? 🥋 🌍

Because one of our very own core members is currently representing Mauritius 🇲🇺 at these championships!

And this is bigger than sport. 💪🏽

We believe sport is about more than medals. It's about discipline, resilience, purpose and creating opportunities. It's about choosing growth over negative influences and proving that young people can lead by example.

Through our collaboration with the Mauritius National Sambo Federation, we've been promoting Sambo as a powerful force for youth empowerment and positive change for several years. And today, we're proud to see, once again, one of our very own stepping onto the mat alongside Africa's finest athletes — a place on earned through years of training, perseverance and competitive excellence.

This is what happens when young people are supported, encouraged and given the space to thrive.

Dream big. Train harder. Represent proudly.

In commemoration of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 and 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, the Grand River South East Youth Circle, in collaboration with SOA Mauritius, conducted a 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 at Camp de Pêcheurs last weekend. 🌍🌊

This initiative served as a reminder that protecting our environment and safeguarding our oceans begins with action at the local level.

Together, our volunteers removed 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝟱𝟬-𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 (𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱) of plastic bottles and other plastic debris from our coastal environment. Every piece of waste collected represents one less threat to marine ecosystems, wildlife, and the beauty of our shared spaces.

While World Environment Day and World Ocean Day encourage global reflection, they also call for local action. Through this clean-up, we reaffirmed our commitment to creating cleaner communities, healthier oceans and a more sustainable future for Mauritius. 🇲🇺

Small actions create meaningful impact. Healthy oceans depend on healthy habits. The responsibility to protect our planet belongs to all of us. 🌊 🌍 🌱

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲! 🌊

On 8 June 2026, we had the privilege of convening an international webinar on "𝑶𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔, 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 & 𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑺: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔", bringing together passionate young people and partners from across Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and beyond.

From the Indian Ocean to the Caribbean, participants joined us from Comoros, Grenada, Haiti, Italy, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, and other parts of the world to exchange ideas, share experiences and reflect on the vital role of oceans in shaping resilient island futures. 🌍

A special shout-out to our friends from Rodrigues! We were delighted to have represented in this important conversation alongside fellow island communities.

AI. Innovation. Youth.

What happens when 40 young people from across Mauritius come together to explore the power of Artificial Intelligence?

Earlier this month, the Grand River South East Youth Circle, in collaboration with Accenture Mauritius, brought together a diverse group of students, young professionals and aspiring innovators for the "Empowering Youth with Practical AI Tools" Workshop at Accenture's state-of-the-art facilities in Ébène Cybercity.

More than just learning about AI, participants got hands-on experience using AI-powered tools to create CVs, websites, presentations, games and innovative solutions, while exploring the opportunities, challenges and responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies.

Selected through a national call for applications, participants represented 34 different communities from across Mauritius, reflecting the growing interest among young people in building future-ready digital skills.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Accenture for their collaboration, expertise, hospitality and commitment to youth empowerment. Special thanks also to all facilitators, volunteers and participants who contributed to making this milestone initiative a success.
