Petanque (also called metal bowls) comes from France. Players try to throw bowls as near as possible to the jack(cochonnet). Two teams play against each other:
3 against 3 (triplettes): each player has 2 bowls
2 against 2 (doublettes): each player has 3 bowls
1 against 1 (tête-à-tête): each player has 3 bowls
If you want to give a try, the petanque courts at ex-common is always available to stude
nts of University of Mauritius, except during staff time (12.00 - 13.00). Come and join at any time for a game or two. You will meet many friends to welcome you. Do not worry to bring your own bowls, because there are usually some extra bowls at ex-common room. If you want to learn the basics of the game, send us a message and we'll be happy to welcome you.
