To the Church of Mauritius, Called to Stand in the Truth of Christ

Beloved brethren in the faith,
Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It is with great sorrow yet with unwavering resolve that I write to you concerning a matter that has begun to trouble my mind—namely, the rise of mystical teachings that claim authority over spiritual realms and the alteration of divine destiny by human hands. Though cloaked in the language of faith, these doctrines are old heresies draped in new garments, leading many astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

*The Rise of Mystical and Unbiblical Teachings*
Brothers and sisters, it has come to my attention that some pastors and prophets claim to have the power to ascend into heavenly realms at will, to traverse the unseen as though the mysteries of God were common pathways, and to alter divine decrees as though the Potter were subject to the clay. Such teachings do not originate from the Spirit of truth but are rooted in deception.

Have you not read that even the Apostle Paul, when caught up in the third heaven, declared that he did not know whether he was in the body or apart from it? (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). He did not seek this experience, nor did he command its occurrence—it was a sovereign act of God. Shall we, then, assume greater power than the holy apostles?

Beware, dear ones, for the time is upon us when men will no longer endure sound doctrine but will heap up for themselves teachers according to their desires, turning away from the truth to myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

*The Spiritual Realm Belongs to God Alone*
The Scriptures testify that the throne of the Most High is set in the heavens and that the hosts of heaven stand before Him in reverence (Isaiah 6:1-4, Revelation 4:1). Nowhere is it given to man to command entrance into these sacred halls, nor to dictate when he shall see what belongs to God alone.

Hear the word of the Lord: “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever” (Deuteronomy 29:29). To desire knowledge beyond what has been revealed is to commit the error of the serpent’s whisper in Eden, urging man to grasp what is not his to take.

*False Teachers and the Spirit of Deception*
Some proclaim that prophets and pastors have been given the authority to send others into spiritual dimensions, shift destinies, or rewrite the courses of men’s lives. Do you not see, beloved, how this doctrine places men in the seat of God? Who is it that ordains the steps of the righteous but the Lord? (Psalm 139:16, Jeremiah 29:11). Who can speak a word and make it stand apart from His will? (Isaiah 46:9-10).

These self-proclaimed teachers parade themselves as workers of light, yet their words betray them. Their doctrine aligns not with the Gospel but with the ancient deceptions of the Gnostics, who claimed secret knowledge of divine things, and the sorcerers, who sought to manipulate the unseen. Have we forgotten Peter's rebuke to Simon the Sorcerer, who thought he could purchase the power of the Holy Spirit? (Acts 8:18-23).

*The Ancient Heresies Resurfacing in Our Time*
The early fathers of our faith contended against these very doctrines, for they are not new but old lies dressed in fresh attire.
‱ Gnosticism, in the days of Irenaeus, taught that higher realms of knowledge were accessible only to the enlightened few. Yet Christ revealed the Father to all who believe, making no distinction between the learned and the simple.
‱ Occultism and Mysticism, practised by the pagans, sought to control spirits and manipulate fate. Yet the Lord has declared that no sorcerer or soothsayer shall stand in His presence (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
‱ New Age Thought, arising in these last days, preaches self-exaltation, telling men that they may shape their destinies and alter the decrees of the Almighty. But the Lord has said, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21).

Shall we, then, return to these vain philosophies and embrace the same errors that the saints before us laboured to refute?

*The Call to Discernment and Faithfulness*
My beloved brethren, these are not matters of mere theological debate but of the faith handed down from Christ and His apostles. If we allow such teachings to take root, we risk leading many into darkness.

*What, then, shall be our response?*
‱ Test every spirit: For not every vision or revelation is from God (1 John 4:1).
‱ Reject mystical encounters as proof of truth: We walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
‱ Rely on the Word of God alone: For all Scripture is God-breathed and sufficient (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
‱ Expose the works of darkness: Do not be deceived, but mark those who teach falsehood (Ephesians 5:11).
‱ Hold fast to the Gospel: Contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3).

Brethren, let us not be carried away by the winds of doctrine, nor let our ears itch for that which is novel and exciting. The truth has been given to us in Christ, and it is sufficient. Let no man deceive you with empty words, for those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God (Ephesians 5:6).

*Final Exhortation: Return to the Truth*
I write to you not as one seeking to lord over your faith but as a fellow servant of Christ, longing to see you established in truth. I desire that you stand firm and are not led astray by those who come with enticing words but depart from the Gospel once and for all delivered.

Reject, therefore, these falsehoods that exalt man over God. Rebuke those who teach them by Scripture. Hold fast to what is good, knowing that the Word of the Lord endures forever.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Stand firm in Him, walk in the truth, and remain steadfast in the faith until the day of His glorious appearance.

Your brother in Christ, a servant of the Gospel,

*THE TEN COMMANDMENTS REVEALED IN CHRIST*

A Message to the Church of the Messiah, the Assemblies of Believers, and Those Who Bear the Name of Yeshua

Beloved in Yeshua, grace and peace be with you in the name of Yeshua, our Messiah and Redeemer. Today, we gather not to hear the wisdom of men but to stand upon the Word of the Living God. The world may change, and cultures may shift, but the truth of God remains eternal. His laws do not fade with time or bend to human desires. What He has spoken, He has established forever.

Many have misunderstood our Lord's words, twisting grace into lawlessness and mercy into compromise. But Yeshua Himself declared, “Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfil” (Matthew 5:17). He came not to replace the Law but to reveal its fullness, showing us that obedience is not just outward action but a matter of the heart.

Let us, then, return to the Ten Commandments—not as distant laws of the past but as the foundation of holy living, confirmed and upheld by Yeshua and His apostles.

*1. You shall have no other gods before Me (Exodus 20:3, Deuteronomy 5:7)*
The Lord alone is God. He commands exclusive worship, for He is the source of all life and salvation. No idol, philosophy, or ambition should ever take His place in our hearts.

Yeshua reaffirmed this when He said, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” (Matthew 4:10). Paul also declared, “For us, there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him.” (1 Corinthians 8:6) Yeshua reminds us that God alone is worthy of our worship. There is no place for divided loyalty. Many today bow to the gods of wealth, ambition, pleasure, and self. But as the children of God, we must stand in the fear of the Lord, serving Him alone.

*2. You shall not make for yourself an idol (Exodus 20:4-6, Deuteronomy 5:8-10)*
Idolatry is not only the worship of carved images; it is not just bowing before statues but the elevation of anything above God. A faith built on personal desires rather than on the Word of God is idolatry in disguise.

The apostles warned against the idolatry of wealth, power, and self-interest. “Little children, guard yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21) and “Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.” (1 Corinthians 10:14)

*3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain (Exodus 20:7, Deuteronomy 5:11)*
God’s name is holy and must not be misused in speech, false oaths, or hypocrisy. The name of God is sacred. It is not to be used carelessly or for personal gain. Many profess the name of Yeshua, yet their hearts are far from Him. To take His name in vain is to misuse it in speech and claim it while living in rebellion.

Yeshua taught us to pray, “Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” (Matthew 6:9). James warned, “But above all, do not swear, either by heaven or by the earth, but let your yes be yes, and your no, no.” (James 5:12)

*4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12-15)*
The Sabbath was a sign of God’s covenant, a day of rest and devotion to Him. God established the Sabbath as a sign of His covenant, a day set apart for rest and worship.

Yeshua did not discard this but instead restored its true purpose. He calls us to find our ultimate rest in Him, yet we must not forsake the holiness of what God has ordained. As Lord of the Sabbath, Yeshua taught that true rest is found in Him. “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27-28) The writer of Hebrews reminds us, “There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9-10)

*5. Honour your father and mother (Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16)*
Respect for parents is a reflection of our honour for God’s authority. In a generation that despises authority, the call to honour remains. This is not just for children but all who have been given spiritual and earthly leadership. The family structure is God’s design, and those who dishonour it dishonour Him.

Yeshua rebuked those who neglected this command, saying, “For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.’” (Matthew 15:4) Paul emphasised, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” (Ephesians 6:1-3)

*6. You shall not murder (Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17)*
Murder is not only the act of taking life but the hatred that breeds it. Murder is more than the taking of life; it begins in the heart. Bitterness, anger, and hatred are seeds of death.

Yeshua calls us to avoid violence and walk in forgiveness and love. He deepened this command, saying, “Everyone who is angry with his brother shall be answerable to the court.” (Matthew 5:21-22) John warned, “Everyone who hates his brother or sister is a murderer.” (1 John 3:15)

*7. You shall not commit adultery (Exodus 20:14, Deuteronomy 5:18)*
Faithfulness in marriage is a reflection of God’s faithfulness to His people. The world promotes impurity, but God’s standard has not changed. Adultery is not just an act—it is a condition of the heart. The marriage covenant is sacred, and we are called to holiness in body, mind, and spirit.

Yeshua declared, “Everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27-28) The writer of Hebrews warned, “Marriage is to be held in honour among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled.” (Hebrews 13:4)

*8. You shall not steal (Exodus 20:15, Deuteronomy 5:19)*
Theft is not just about taking what is not ours but living with a spirit of dishonesty. Theft is not just the act of taking but the attitude of selfishness. Integrity must be our banner in business, work, or daily life. We are to be people of honesty, working with our hands to bless, not to deceive.

Paul instructed, “The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labour.” (Ephesians 4:28). The unrighteous, including thieves, will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

*9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour (Exodus 20:16, Deuteronomy 5:20)*
Lies destroy lives. False witnessing is about legal matters and gossip, deceit, and half-truths. As followers of Yeshua, we must be known for truth, even when it costs us. God calls us to truthfulness in all things. Lies destroy, but truth sets free.

Paul commands, “Speak truth each one of you with his neighbour.” (Ephesians 4:25) and “Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices.” (Colossians 3:9-10)

*10. You shall not covet (Exodus 20:17, Deuteronomy 5:21)*
Covetousness is the root of greed and discontent. Covetousness is a poison that leads to destruction. It breeds dissatisfaction and closes our eyes to God’s provision.

Paul teaches us to be content in all things, trusting that God is our provider. Yeshua warned, “Watch out and be on your guard against every form of greed.” (Luke 12:15). Paul testified, “I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, ‘You shall not covet.’” (Romans 7:7)

*The Fulfillment of the Law in Christ*
Some may say, “We are under grace, not law,” but Paul reminds us: “Do we then nullify the Law through faith? Far from it! On the contrary, we establish the Law.” (Romans 3:31)

Yeshua did not abolish the Law but brought its fullness. He did not lessen the standard; He revealed its deeper meaning. The Law does not save us, but we are called to walk in obedience, for grace does not lead us to lawlessness.

Beloved, as we reflect on these commandments, let us not see them as mere rules but as the heartbeat of our Father. Let us walk in holiness, not out of fear, but out of love, knowing that obedience is worship.

For the world may change, but God’s truth remains. The words of Yeshua stand: “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

May we be found faithful. May we walk in righteousness. And may we, as the assemblies of believers, shine as a light amid darkness.
Amen.

Meditation: Why Are We Not Happy and Hopeful? Why do we struggle?

Why are we sulking? Why are we frustrated, angry, depressed, or deceived? Why are we crying and filled with negativity? Why can’t we have hope for our future? I don’t understand why so many are discouraged, unhappy, and filled with anger that stems from dissatisfaction, deception, hurt, and so much more.

When I look at what Christ has done for me—how He has forgiven all my sins (1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”), how He laid down His life so that I could be found righteous before the Father (2 Corinthians 5:21 – “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”), how I will not be condemned and sent to hell (Romans 8:1 – “Therefore, there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus”)—when I consider that my eternal future is promised and secured in and by Jesus (John 10:28 – “And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; and no one will sn**ch them out of My hand”).

Wow! I will live eternally; my hope is eternal! (1 Peter 1:3-4 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you”).

When I remember that Jesus has healed me from so many sicknesses and diseases, and even from cancer (Isaiah 53:5 – “But He was pierced for our offences, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds, we are healed”). When I recall all the other things He has promised to do in our lives if we believe in Him (John 14:13-14 – “Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it”).

when I consider His unwavering love (Romans 8:38-39 – “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”), the continuous grace of the Father (2 Corinthians 12:9 – “And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’”), and the uninterrupted presence of the Holy Spirit in my life (John 14:16 – “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever”).

When I recognise His protection from spiritual and demonic attacks (Ephesians 6:11 – “Put on the full armour of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil”), when I realise that Christ favours me over the wicked as long as I remain in Him (Psalm 5:12 – “For You bless the righteous person, Lord, You surround him with favour as with a shield”) when I consider that one day I will see God because I abide in Him (Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”)—

When I think of how God forgives me time and time again, loves me more, shows grace and mercy, has compassion, and takes care of me (Lamentations 3:22-23 – “The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, for His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness”),

Then, I cannot understand why, as Christians, we go through so much emotional and mental turmoil. I fail to comprehend how, despite all that God has done, is doing, and will do in our lives, we still end up being loveless, unforgiving, lacking in compassion and grace, without hope, depressed, crying, and feeling alone.

I fail to understand why we cannot forgive and move forward in love (Colossians 3:13 – “Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also”), why we hold on to grudges and hurt (Ephesians 4:26 – “Be angry, yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger”), why we struggle to let go and show grace (Luke 6:36 – “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful”), why we lack compassion (Matthew 9:36 – “Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd”), why we have lost hope in life (Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’”).

I fail to understand why we have hardened hearts and stiff necks (Ezekiel 36:26 – “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh”).

The only possible explanation is that people who live like this have never indeed met Jesus or that they are not putting Him first in their lives. These people are not seeking God but rather their welfare (Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you”). They have not experienced what I have shared because they are not truly living in Christ. They have not been filled with God’s love, grace, or compassion and mercy (Psalm 34:8 – “Taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”).

If you genuinely enjoy Christ, His qualities would be evident in you (Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”). His love and forgiveness would flow through you (1 John 4:7-8 – “Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love”).

What are you holding on to? What is so big that it closes your eyes to all the good things God has promised that would remove negativity from your heart? Why focus on wretched human beings when you have a mighty God who has already promised you a future beyond this corrupted and dying world? (2 Corinthians 4:18 – “We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal”).

Look up—have faith, trust God, turn to Jesus! Be truly filled by His Spirit. Let His love flow through you. Do not resist Him. Do not resist the changes and the actions He wants you to adopt. Let Him bring joy, peace, hope, and purpose into your life!

He died so that this could happen in your life.

He is Immanuel, God with us.
He is the Prince of peace, the Eternal Counsellor, and our Comforter.
He is God Almighty, the Alpha and the Omega.

Meditation: Covenant Blessings Through Christ

Text: Deuteronomy 28; Parallels in the New Testament

God’s covenant with Israel in Deuteronomy 28 is a beautiful and sobering reminder of the blessings that flow from obedience and the consequences of disobedience. Upon entering the Promised Land, the blessings given to the Israelites are a shadow of the more incredible blessings in Christ. Just as Israel’s inheritance depended on their faithfulness to God’s covenant, our inheritance in Christ requires that we remain aligned with Him, obedient to His Word, and steadfast in our walk of faith.

Today, I want us to consider the parallels between entering the Promised Land under the Old Covenant and entering life in Christ through the New Covenant. Following Christ and taking the step of baptism signifies entering into a new spiritual land of promise and coming under God's covenant blessings and responsibilities.

Let us explore how these blessings are actualised through Christ, with a call to live in alignment with Him.

Entering the Promised Land and Life in Christ
In Deuteronomy 28, the Israelites were on the verge of entering the land God had promised them—a land of abundance, provision, and peace. But these blessings were contingent on their obedience.

The same is true for us in Christ. Baptism and following Christ are not the end of the journey; they are the beginning. We enter into a new life of promise and blessings, but these blessings require faithfulness. As Jesus said:
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

Entering the Promised Land was about more than geographical relocation; it was about living in covenant with God. Similarly, baptism is not just a ritual—it is a declaration of allegiance to Christ, a stepping into the promises of God’s Kingdom.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ
In Deuteronomy 28, God promises blessings in every area of life—prosperity in the city and the field, fruitfulness in labour, victory over enemies, and abundance in provision.

These blessings are mirrored and fulfilled in Christ. Ephesians 1:3 reminds us:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

Through Christ, we receive:
‱ The blessing of salvation, a restored relationship with God.
‱ The fruit of the Spirit, enabling us to live godly lives (Galatians 5:22-23).
‱ Eternal security, not in the land but in His Kingdom.

The Promised Land represents a life of abundance now found in Christ—not through material prosperity but through spiritual riches that surpass all earthly blessings.

Victory Over Enemies
In Deuteronomy 28:7, God promises victory over the enemies of Israel:
“The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways.”

In Christ, this promise is fulfilled on a deeper level. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). Through Christ’s victory on the cross, we are assured of triumph over sin, death, and Satan:
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

This victory requires our ongoing obedience and faithfulness. If we neglect to put on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:13-18) or drift from Him, we expose ourselves to spiritual defeat.

The Condition of Obedience
The blessings of Deuteronomy 28 hinge on the phrase, “If you diligently obey the Lord your God.” Obedience was the key to unlocking the abundance of the Promised Land, and disobedience would bring curses.

In the same way, life in Christ requires alignment with God’s Word. Becoming a Christian does not give us a licence to live however we please. Paul warns us:
“Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be!” (Romans 6:1-2)

Obedience to Christ is not about earning salvation—it is the evidence of our faith and love for Him. Jesus said:
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)

God’s Provision and Abundance
Deuteronomy 28:12 speaks of God’s provision:
“The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand.”

Christ teaches us to trust in God’s provision, reminding us:
“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

But just as Israel had to remain faithful to receive God’s provision, we, too, must seek Him above all else. Spiritual abundance flows from a heart that prioritises His Kingdom.

Remaining in the Covenant
The Promised Land came with responsibilities. Israel was called to live as a holy people, set apart for God. Similarly, in Christ, we are called to live as God’s holy people:
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession.” (1 Peter 2:9)

To remain in the blessings of the covenant, we must stay obedient, walking in the Spirit and resisting the desires of the flesh. Disobedience leads to spiritual consequences, just as it did for Israel.

The Call to Obedience
Deuteronomy 28 reminds us that God’s blessings are abundant but conditional upon obedience. In Christ, these blessings are fulfilled and magnified. Through baptism and faith in Christ, we step into a new life of promise—a life rich in spiritual blessings, victory, provision, and purpose.

But let us not take these blessings for granted. As the Israelites were warned not to turn away from God, we must remain steadfast. Paul’s exhortation in Philippians 2:12 should stir our hearts:
“Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.”

May we walk in the fullness of God’s covenant blessings, staying obedient to His Word and living lives that glorify Him. The greatest blessing is not the gifts He gives but His presence with us. Let us remain faithful, for “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
