The Diabetes Parent Support Group was initially created to respond to a pressing need to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents in Mauritius who are living with diabetes and to prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes in youth. In addition to the individual and personalized care and guidance which the association is already providing to ensure a proper control and monitoring of their
health condition, there is the necessity to help families to cope with the financial strains and burdens that come along with diabetes. There is also the need to organize recreational activities for the patients and their concerned parents/relatives, thus alongside providing them opportunities to share experiences and to learn lifestyle conducive to health improvement and stability. GUIDING PHILOSOPHY
