Gozo Confederation for Agriculture and Fisheries The Confederation also takes care of the problems of young farmers, women entrepreneurs in agriculture and fishermen.

The Gozo Confederation of Agriculture and Fisheries is the organization representating and protecting the interests of Gozo’s agricultural and fisheries sectors. It recognises farmers and fishermen as entrepreneur; the protagonists who pursue economic development within the primary sector and the technological and social importance of their enterprises. It represents the vast majority of farmers and fishermen in Gozo, thus becoming the interlocutor with the Government for this important sector in Gozo. The presence of the Confederation in Gozo is embodied in a widespread manner. The headquarters is in Xewkija, Gozo in the historic Gozitano Agricultural Village – a monument to Gozo’s agricultural history. Through its members, it is also present in Brussels, at CEJA.

MOBILISATION IN STRASBOURG 📢
CEJA stands in solidarity of today’s action in Strasbourg, led by .agriculteurs.nat and attended by a diversity of young farmers from all over Europe.
💬 Vice President .paglia, present in Strasbourg, has reiterated it: “We are here today to stand with farmers, and especially with young farmers, who are worried about the EU-Mercosur Agreement and its effect on their activity. This agreement has raised serious concerns for years, about fair competition, standards and how decisions are taken. We are here to give visibility to these concerns, with a simple message: no agreement without fairness.”

Today, CEJA participated in the demonstration organised by with the presence of member organisations, representing the young farmers’ voice in the national delegations.
Many thanks for taking the time to travel from your farms and giving a clear signal to the EU and Heads of States gathered for the European Council. This will give leverage to continue to fight for a true ambition for Europe’s agriculture and young farmers.

CEJA welcomes the political agreement reached last night in trilogue negotiations on New Genomic Techniques ( ). After years of discussions and successive compromises attempts within the EU institutions, this deal represents a significant step towards enabling the use of targeted mutagenesis and cisgenesis as part of the toolbox for young farmers. CEJA calls on the European Parliament and the Council to swiftly endorse the agreement and allow implementation to begin.
