T-Forum Malta was established under the auspices of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange between academia, industry, and government.

As one of its first initiatives, T-Forum Malta launched its inaugural Local Action Group (LAG), a six-member body comprising representatives from academia, industry, and government. The Malta LAG will serve as a model for similar groups worldwide.

GTA CEO Joe Muscat was appointed as one of the two industry representatives on the LAG.

The group's first meeting was held in Malta during the WTTC event, chaired by Leslie Vella, Deputy CEO of the MTA, and with the participation of Professor Jafar Jafari and Professor David Fennell of Brock University, Ontario, Canada.

The CEO of the Gozo Tourism Association (GTA), Joe Muscat, participated in a round table meeting focused on “Making Eco-Certification Achievable for Small Tourism Accommodation in Malta and Gozo.”

The meeting was chaired by Perit Kevin Fsadni, Deputy CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), and featured presentations by Ivan Cassar, Manager Quality Assurance at the Malta Tourism Authority, and Christos Markopoulos, CEO of Royal Cert.

The discussion also benefited from the participation of Randy Durband, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The session explored ways of making sustainability certification more accessible and practical for small accommodation establishments, while highlighting the importance of eco-certification in enhancing quality, competitiveness and the long-term sustainability of the tourism sector in Malta and Gozo.

GTA welcomed the opportunity to contribute to this important discussion and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable tourism practices and help tourism operators adapt to evolving market expectations.

The GTA chairman Paul Scicluna and CEO Joe Muscat met with officials from Grand Harbour Productions 🎥

During this meeting both sides explored ways how to collaborate to further enhance the support for film production industry who are increasingly seeking and opting to film in Gozo. The island ticks alot of boxes for this strong segment and both entities committed to continue this dialogue and collaborative approach for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders concerned.
