Gozo Tourism Association CEO Joe Muscat met with representatives of the Gozo Sailing Club: Mr Noel Grech, Dr Simon Mifsud and Mr Simon Pace, to discuss opportunities for closer collaboration in promoting Destination Gozo through sailing. ⛵️

During the meeting, both sides explored how sailing can serve as a unique platform to showcase Gozo's natural beauty, rich maritime heritage, and exceptional conditions for nautical activities. The discussion also focused on how Gozo continues to tick many boxes for the expansion of its adventure and sports tourism offering, attracting visitors seeking authentic, active, and memorable experiences throughout the year.

Particular attention was given to the participation of the sailing yacht Gozo Dream in international races, which presents an excellent opportunity to raise Gozo's profile on the international stage and strengthen its reputation as a premier destination for sailing and outdoor adventure.

The GTA and the Gozo Sailing Club look forward to exploring initiatives that will further position Gozo as a leading Mediterranean destination for sailing enthusiasts and adventure travelers alike.

The enhancement of tourism in Gozo is one of the Gozo Tourism Association main objectives. Today the GTA council had a lengthy meeting with the Minister for Gozo Hon. Clint Camilleri. An overview of the tourism performance during 2025 was presented by GTA which showed encouraging improved performances of this sector on Gozo. GTA also presented the Minister for Gozo with its Budget 2027 proposals.

A discussion followed touching on sea and air connectivity, the tourism product, marketing opportunities, Human Resources and the environment of the Island. Minister was accompanied by the permanent secretary Mr. Mario Borg while the GTA delegation was let by its Chairman Paul Scicluna, Vice Chairman Mario Loporto, Treasurer Konrad Scicluna, council members Joe Mercieca, Amand Veranneman, Naomi Mcdonald and CEO Joe Muscat.

Connectivity remains a priority on the Gozo Tourism Association’s agenda. Today, the GTA executive council held a meeting with the newly appointed Gozo Channel Chairperson, Dr. Marlene Cini, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ronald Sultana. The discussion focused on several matters aimed at further strengthening the consistency and quality of the inter‑island service provided by Gozo Channel. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue this constructive and synergised dialogue.

The Gozo Tourism Association (GTA) welcomed Member of the European Parliament Dr Daniel Attard to its premises for a courtesy visit. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss several key topics addressed by Dr Attard in his report on sustainable tourism, which was recently approved by the European Parliament. 🇪🇺 🇲🇹

Among the main issues discussed were connectivity, short-let accommodation, the establishment of a Destination Management Organisation, upskilling and retention of the tourism workforce, the eco-contribution fund, and the EU Ecolabel. Both parties expressed their commitment to exploring further opportunities to strengthen and enhance the tourism sector in Gozo.

Dr Attard was accompanied by his assistant, Mr Nicholas Borg. Representing the Gozo Tourism Association were Chairman Mr Paul Scicluna, CEO Mr Joe Muscat, GTA Council Member Ms Leanne Meilaq, and Office Manager Ms Temida Magrin.

The Gozo Tourism Association Executive Council today held a meeting at its premises with Malta's Ambassador to Poland, H.E. Dr. Gavin Gulia. 🤝

During the meeting, a number of topics of mutual interest were discussed, including the continued growth in tourist arrivals from Poland to the Maltese Islands, the possibility of organising a Gozo Day in Warsaw, and the development of exchange programmes with tourism vocational institutions in Poland. The Council and Ambassador Gulia also discussed the GTA's participation in Malta Day celebrations in Warsaw this September.

At the conclusion of the meeting, H.E. Dr Gavin Gulia signed the Visitors' Book and was presented with a copy of the GTA's gift publication, Gozo: The Hidden Treasures, by GTA Chairman Mr Paul Scicluna.
