Gozo Philatelic Society Founded on the 3rd September 1999 for 'the promotion of the hobby', 'the provision of a point of reference' and 'co-ordination'.

All Philatelists are invited to join as members. We publish a quarterly full colour interesting newsletter which is sent free to all members. We also organize small philatelic exhibitions and an annual exhibition in the month of november at the Gozo Ministery Exhibition Halls. We hold a members meeting every first Sunday of each month at the Victoria Boys Scouts headquarters. We issue a commemorative card whenever Malta Post issues a Gozo related postage stamp and/or a special commemorative hand stamp. Membership fee is euro 5.00 for adults and euro 2.00 for juniors (under 18 years) per annum.

Cards Exhibition @ Il-Ħaġar

Two exhibitions at Il-Ħaġar museum and cultural centre in Victoria’s Pjazza San Ġorġ celebrate the successful launch of the first catalogue of the wide range of Covers produced by the Gozo Philatelic Society since its foundation in 1999.

“Impressive” comments are being offered for the full colour detailed publication compiled by Mark-Anthony Poulton. The GPS is in fact very well known for these productions, designed by the able hands of resident artist Anthony Grech, to commemorate events and for stamps connected with Gozo. Actually, regular subscribers include those who are not really philatelists but are more interested in Melitensia!

The exhibition on level 2 can be visited till Saturday 3 June. It shows a cross section of these covers, arranged thematically.

That on level -1 shows over twenty of the orginal designs used for these productions. This continues till mid June. As usual visitors can pick up copies of the GPS Newsletter, crammed with assorted articles.

Il-Ħaġar is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, without any entrance fee.

Do mark your diary!

The GPS is organizing a lecture in Maltese by author Vincent Zammit, lecturer in Maltese cultural heritage, on Friday 19 May 2023 at Il-ĦAĠAR, to be followed by drinks on the Roof.

“Ġrajjiet Għawdex fuq Kartolina” at 7 pm is being organized on the occasion of the launch of a Catalogue detailing all GPS covers, available exclusively against a donation of a minimum of €15.

Il-Ħaġar Commemorates Benedict XVI

The Gozo Philatelic Society has changed the display in its showcase on level -1 at Il-Ħaġar museum in Victoria’s Pjazza San Ġorġ.

On the anniversary of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Malta, a range of exclusive covers and designs by Anthony Grech are on show. He produced them on 17 and 18 April 2010 during the visit, as well as on the demise of the Pope Emeritus on 31 December 2022.

These exhibits will be replaced in mid May when the GPS will be issuing a Card publication. However the permanent items on level 2 include a signed letter, skullcap and mitre from his pontificate.

Visitors can continue to pick up free copies of the GPS quarterly periodical. Visiting hours remain 9am – 5pm seven days a week, still with no entrance fee.

Valentine Cards @ Il-Ħaġar
In preparation for Valentine’s Day, the Gozo Philatelic Society is
exhibiting a range of vintage “Lovers Cards” in its showcase on level -1
at Il-Ħaġar museum in Victoria’s Pjazza San Ġorġ. This assortment from
early in the twentieth century includes used and unused colorized
postcards from Italy.

On the occasion of the 175th. anniversary of The Immaculate Conception statue, Victoria Gozo MaltaPost issued a commemorative hand postmark from its VICTORIA, Gozo post office on 3 December 2022. As usual The GPS issued a Card in a limited edition of 100 to commemorate this event. Each card is postmarked with the special postmark and individually numbered. This special card was issued by the Gozo Philatelic Society as a greeting Christmas card sent free to all members of our society. The card was issued in a limited edition of 150 , each individually numbered. The card was postmarked with the special commemorative handstamp issued by MaltaPost on 26/11/2022 to commemorate the inauguration of 'MILIED F'GHAWDEX 2022' (Christmas in Gozo 2022) activities organised by the Gozo Ministry.
