🇲🇹It-Teknoloġija – Opportunità jew Riskju? ‼️
Illum, l-Anzjanità Attiva u Kura fil-Komunità organizzat seminar bit-tema "It-Teknoloġija – Opportunità jew Riskju?", ġewwa ċ-Ċentru tal-Anzjanità Attiva taż-Żurrieq.
Dan is-seminar kien jagħmel parti minn inizjattiva edukattiva bl-għan li jitqajjem aktar għarfien dwar l-użu tat-teknoloġija fil-ħajja ta’ kuljum tal-anzjani. It-teknoloġija tista’ tkun opportunità importanti, għaliex tgħin lill-persuni anzjani jibqgħu f’kuntatt mal-familja u l-ħbieb, jaċċessaw informazzjoni, jużaw servizzi online u jħossuhom aktar indipendenti.
Madankollu, it-teknoloġija tista’ ġġib magħha wkoll ċerti riskji, fosthom frodi, telefonati jew messaġġi qarrieqa, użu ħażin ta’ informazzjoni personali, u sitwazzjonijiet fejn persuna anzjana tista’ tħossha konfuża jew vulnerabbli.
Matul is-seminar, il-parteċipanti ngħataw informazzjoni dwar kif jużaw it-teknoloġija b’mod aktar sigur, kif jagħrfu sinjali ta’ riskju jew frodi, u fejn jistgħu jfittxu għajnuna u sapport. Is-seminar serva wkoll bħala opportunità biex l-anzjani jifhmu aħjar kif jistgħu jibbenefikaw mit-teknoloġija filwaqt li jipproteġu lilhom infushom.
Ingħata wkoll għarfien dwar l-impatt tal-abbużż fuq is-saħħa mentali tal-anzjan u fuq is-servizzi ta' sapport li l-anzjani jista' jkollhom aċċess għalihom.
🇬🇧Technology – Opportunity or Risk? ‼️
Today, Active Ageing and Community Care organised a seminar entitled “Technology – Opportunity or Risk?”, which was held at the Żurrieq Active Ageing Centre, Triq l-Imqabba, Żurrieq.
This seminar formed part of an educational initiative aimed at raising awareness on the use of technology in the daily lives of older adults. Technology can be an important opportunity, as it helps older persons remain in contact with family and friends, access information, make use of online services, and feel more independent.
However, technology may also bring certain risks, including online scams, fraudulent calls or messages, misuse of personal information, and situations where an older person may feel confused or vulnerable. These risks may also contribute to forms of elderly abuse, which was the overarching theme of the day. The mental health impacts on older adults as a result of such abuse were also discussed as an important aspect of the seminar.
During the seminar, participants were given information on how to use technology more safely, how to recognise signs of risk or fraud, and where they can seek help and support. The seminar also served as an opportunity for older adults to better understand how they can benefit from technology while protecting themselves.
Awareness was also raised about the impact of abuse on the mental health of older adults and about the support services that older persons may access.
