Next week, on 16 June 2026, and RESCALED are co-hosting the 2026 Conference in Malta, “Towards Justice that Heals: Detention Houses as the Way Forward.”

Participants will explore approaches to reducing the risk of recidivism in the Maltese context, learn more about RISe Foundation’s rehabilitation and reintegration programme, and discuss developments in small-scale, differentiated, and community-integrated detention houses across the European justice landscape.
The conference will feature insights from a range of experts, including researchers, forensic psychologists, and social workers, like Yanika Tabone from RISe Foundation, RESCALED’s Knowledge Manager, Noa Shoshan, and Hans Claus, co-founder of .dehuizen

Yesterday, members of the RISe Foundation Malta delivered an informative session to our friends at Eden Leisure, where the senior management team gained valuable insight into the topic of delinquent behaviour through four key perspectives: philosophical, biopsychosocial, communicative, and pragmatic, complemented by a personal lived experience.

The session sought to foster a deeper understanding of prevention, intervention, and positive behavioural change within the workplace. The feedback received was extremely positive, and we sincerely appreciate the warm welcome and active engagement shown by all participants.

We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with both Eden Leisure and the Eden Leisure Foundation, and we encourage other organizations and workplaces to reach out to us if they are interested in similar awareness and educational initiatives.

RISe Foundation Malta and Maria Regina College, Malta have recently embarked on a new venture as part of their prevention services, aimed at supporting individuals in redirecting themselves towards positive personal growth and, ultimately, preventing behaviours that may lead to delinquency in the long term. As the first initiative of its kind, MRC’s psychosocial team, together with RISe Foundation’s education team, have focused their efforts on developing a pilot project based on weekly sessions, with the intention of expanding it further in the future.

Last Friday, we accompanied the students on a walk at Chadwick Lakes, where the natural environment provided a more comfortable setting for them to express themselves and discuss various life challenges and difficulties. At the same time, the activity helped strengthen trust and encouraged them to remain grounded in the present moment, particularly while reflecting on the consequences of one’s actions. On our way back, we also carried out an act of civic responsibility by collecting rubbish left on the ground and disposing of it in the bins provided. Further information about this newly developed service will be shared in due course.
