Adopt a Sicilian Stray

Adopt a Sicilian Stray There are 750,000 stray dogs in Sicily. They are poisoned or die of malnutrition in the first year of their life if they are not taken off the streets. Ltd.

Adopt a Sicilian Stray. Here is some information re adopting a dog or a pup through our organisation. VACCINATIONS, EU PASSPORT, etc
The Puppies and Dogs arrive in Malta micro-chipped, holding an EU passport, Rabies vaccinated as required by law, and fully vaccinated (a minimum of 3 vaccinations), de-fleaed and de-wormed regularly and fed top quality Hill's dog food. They are checked by a vet pri

or to departure and are only brought to Malta if they are 100% healthy and conforming to regulations. Adults are brought to Malta already neutered, puppies must be neutered by the age of one year by their adoptive families. This is not a business but a charity financed by ourselves and the adoptive families. The dogs are not for sale, and they are NOT allowed to be sold on by those adopting…. DONATIONS
A contribution TOWARDS the costs is requested in order to help us continue our mission to save and home dogs. All donations are against a receipt. Our main costs include dog food, vaccinations, passport, - blood tests, deworming treatments, tick and flea treatments, medications, and the main cost of the ferry to Malta. INTERVIEWS and HOUSE VISITS
Our dogs and pups will only go to good homes and extensive interviews, house visits and paperwork are carried out before the dog arrives in Malta. IF you want to adopt one of our Puppies or dogs you will be asked some preliminary questions online and then chat via video call with Theresa Camilleri. She will discuss the adoption to see if you and the puppy or dog are suited. (If you live in a rented property we will need a letter of consent from your landlord PRIOR to the interview). If all goes well a house visit will be arranged where you will sign various forms and thus commit to adopting the dog or puppy. (the house visit is an opportunity for you to ask all your questions which Theresa will be very happy to answer). The average timespan for the dog to arrive is around 1 month, but this may vary if the puppy is less than 15 weeks old. It is essential that you use the time to prepare well for the new addition to your family. FACEBOOK GROUPS, COLLECTION OF YOUR PET
You will be added to a Facebook Group called The Sicilian Dogs in which you will be tagged with details of your dog's arrival. All you have to do is collect your pet from an agreed meeting place when she brings him /her over to Malta, sign the legally binding contract (which Theresa would have discussed with you in the interview). As a thank you for adopting a Sicilian Stray you will be given a very nice HILL'S starter pack from VJ Salomone and a Canshield collar to protect against sandfly donated by Borg Cardona and Co. REGISTRATION
You must register your dog in the Maltese animal database within one week of arrival and send a photo of the Certificate of ownership to Theresa as soon as you receive it. Puppies cannot come to Malta before the age of 15 WEEKS and must be neutered by the age of 1 year.

Sossy is doing really well.
In just two weeks her fur is growing back, but more importantly, she has turned into a lively happy little dog from a depressed tick infested dog in evident pain from a hernia.
The last photo is of Sossy two weeks ago, I think there's a difference!!!
We have had her chipped, neutered, pushed the hernia back in, got rid of all the ticks, and treated the mange with Nexgard Spectra.
She tested positive for sandfly, not too high 1:160, but as she isn't symptomatic, we have started her on Allopurinol and test again in 6 months time, unless things change of course.
Her lovely family is awaiting her with open arms and hopefully Sossy will be in her new home next month ♥️
