On 19 March, the team behind The Anna Initiative held its first event at Ta' Lazzru Farm, a family-run agricultural estate established in 1908. Participants took part in hands-on farming activities including harvesting, planting, and seasonal tasks, and shared a meal together on-site.

The Anna Initiative is a new structured mentorship and skills programme being developed by the CVB Board of Trustees, dedicated to equipping young women with the knowledge and capabilities they need to navigate an increasingly complex world. Built around four core pillars, Emotional Literacy, Financial Literacy, Basic Practical Skills, and Fostering Creativity, the programme is led by Ms. Rodianne Abela alongside Dr. Krista Ellul, Dr. Nikki Petroni, and Dr. Justine Swain.

The event marks an early and meaningful step in what CVB intends to be a sustained programme of activity, rooted in the Foundation's founding commitment to the support and advancement of vulnerable young women.

Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, recently received the leadership of the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja Foundation for a formal courtesy meeting. The delegation was led by Mr Andrew Mamo, Honorary Chairperson, and included Ms Rodianne Abela, Member of the Board of Administration and Chairperson of the Anna Initiative, accompanied by Mr Kevin Block, Chief Operating Officer, and Ms Josianne Spiteri, Personal Assistant to the Chairperson.

During the meeting, the representatives provided Her Excellency with an overview of the institution’s mission, which has remained steadfast since its foundation in 1880 by the Marquis Vincenzo Bugeja. The discussion focused on the Foundation’s dedication to supporting young women navigating difficult life circumstances, primarily through the provision of education and comprehensive life-skills preparation designed to foster long-term independence.

The meeting also served as a platform to discuss the Foundation’s strategic plans and future projects. These initiatives aim to ensure that the institution continues to address contemporary social realities and modern challenges with the same rigour and compassion established by its founder.
