🍽️ Hunting heritage meets culinary education in Malta.
Our member organisation Federation for Hunting and Conservation Malta Federazzjoni Kaccaturi Nassaba Konservazzjonisti - FKNK has partnered with the Institute of Tourism Studies to launch specialised game cookery courses — bringing traditional Maltese game cuisine into formal professional culinary training for the first time.
The initiative highlights how hunting culture, gastronomy, seasonality, and local heritage are deeply connected. 🐇🦆
Traditional dishes featuring rabbit, quail, and turtle dove have long been part of Maltese culture, passed down through generations. Through this new collaboration, future chefs and hospitality professionals will now have the opportunity to learn these culinary traditions in an accredited educational environment.
The partnership also builds on the international success of FKNK’s book Game Recipes from Malta, which was awarded “Best Game Meat Book in the World” at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. 🌍
This is another strong example of how hunting traditions can contribute not only to conservation and wildlife management, but also to culture, tourism, gastronomy, and local identity.
