🇲🇹 Għal darb’oħra, waqt l-eżerċizzju tal-immappjar ġewwa Ħal Qormi, iltqajna ma’ Joe Farrugia, li jaħdem bħala skarpan.
Joe qasam magħna li ilu jaħdem f’din is-sengħa għal madwar 55 sena. B’passjoni kbira, spjegalna kif ix-xogħol tiegħu jinvolvi l-ħolqien taż-żraben skont il-gosti, il-ħtiġijiet u l-bżonnijiet tal-klijent.
Matul is-snin, permezz ta’ din is-sengħa, Joe kellu l-opportunità li jiltaqa’ ma’ b***a personalitajiet Maltin u nies minn oqsma differenti. Interessanti wkoll li din it-tip ta’ sengħa hija mfittxija wkoll minn nies barranin.
Grazzi, Joe, talli ddedikajt il-ħin tiegħek magħna u talli qsamt magħna l-esperjenza, l-għarfien u l-istorja tiegħek f’din is-sengħa tradizzjonali.
🇬🇧 Once again, during the community mapping exercise in Ħal Qormi, we met Joe Farrugia, who works as a shoemaker.
Joe shared with us that he has been practising this trade for around 55 years. With great passion, he explained how his work involves creating shoes according to the tastes, requirements and needs of each client.
Throughout the years, through this trade, Joe has had the opportunity to meet many Maltese personalities and people from different fields. It is also interesting to note that this type of traditional craft is sought after by people from abroad as well.
