🇲🇹 Fix-xahar ta’ Lulju, il-Community Mentor, Andrea, u s-Social Worker, Sandra, kellhom l-opportunità li jżuru l-premissi ta’ RMJ Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation ġewwa s-Siġġiewi.🐎

RMJ hija NGO f’Malta li taħdem biex issalva u tirriabilita żwiemel li jkunu ġew traskurati, abbandunati, irtirati mit-tiġrija jew li jkunu f’riskju li jintbagħtu għall-qatla. L-għan tagħha huwa li tipprovdi kura, kenn u appoġġ lil dawn iż-żwiemel, filwaqt li, fejn ikun possibbli, tgħinhom isibu dar permanenti u sigura.

Matul iż-żjara, sirna nafu li RMJ bħalissa għandha aktar minn 100 żiemel taħt il-kura tagħha, u li tinsab ukoll fil-proċess li tiftaħ sezzjoni terapewtika. RMJ tilqa’ wkoll voluntiera u sponsors li jixtiequ joffru l-għajnuna tagħhom fil-kura u l-appoġġ taż-żwiemel.

Il-voluntiera li dawwritna mal-post qasmet magħna wkoll is-sodisfazzjon u s-serħan tal-moħħ li tħoss permezz tal-volontarjat tagħha. Kienet żjara sabiħa ħafna, fejn kellna l-opportunità naraw mill-qrib ix-xogħol importanti, il-kura u d-dedikazzjoni li jingħataw lil dawn iż-żwiemel.

Nirringrazzjaw lil RMJ tal-opportunità li nżuru l-post u nitgħallmu aktar dwar ix-xogħol siewi li jagħmlu ta’ kuljum. 🙏🫶🐎

🇬🇧 During the month of July, Community Mentor Andrea and Social Worker Sandra had the opportunity to visit the premises of RMJ Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation in Siġġiewi. 🐎

RMJ is an NGO in Malta which works to rescue and rehabilitate horses who have been neglected, abandoned, retired from racing or are at risk of being sent for slaughter. Its aim is to provide care, shelter and support to these horses, while also helping them find a safe and permanent home whenever possible.

During the visit, we learnt that RMJ currently cares for over 100 horses and is also in the process of opening a therapeutic section. RMJ also welcomes volunteers and sponsors who wish to support the care and wellbeing of the horses.

The volunteer who showed us around also shared the satisfaction and peace of mind she experiences through volunteering. It was a lovely visit, where we had the opportunity to see first-hand the important work, care and dedication given to these horses.

We would like to thank RMJ for the opportunity to visit their premises and learn more about the valuable work they carry out every day. 🙏🫶🐎

🇲🇹 Għat-tieni darba organizzajna Pop-Up Café fis-Siġġiewi, fejn kellna l-opportunità niltaqgħu ma' residenti tal-lokal u nqattgħu ħin nitkellmu magħhom. Kien ta' pjaċir nisimgħu l-opinjonijiet, l-esperjenzi u l-ideat tagħhom, u naqsmu ħsibijiet flimkien f'atmosfera informali. Dawn il-laqgħat jgħinuna nibnu relazzjonijiet aktar b'saħħithom mal-komunità u nifhmu aħjar dak li hu importanti għan-nies. Aktar il' quddiem ser norganizzaw aktar Pop-Up Cafés f'żoni differenti tas-Siġġiewi. Nistennew bil-ħerqa li niltaqgħu mal-komunità.

🇬🇧 For the second time, we organised a Pop-Up Café in Siġġiewi, where we had the opportunity to meet local residents and spend time talking with them.It was a pleasure to hear their opinions, experiences, and ideas, and to share thoughts together in a relaxed and informal setting. These gatherings help us build stronger relationships within the community and better understand what matters most to the people who live here. In the coming months, we will be organising more Pop-Up Cafés in different areas of Siġġiewi. We look forward to continue these meetings.

🇲🇹 Kellna l-opportunità li nżuru l-forn tradizzjonali 'St Paul's Bakery' f'Ħal Qormi, li ilu jservi lill-komunità għal b***a snin. Matul iż-żjara rajna mill-qrib il-proċess tal-produzzjoni tal-ħobż u l-għodda tradizzjonali li għadha tintuża sal-lum, ħafna minnha maħduma minn artiġjani Qriema. Dawn l-għodda mhux biss jirrakkontaw l-istorja tas-sengħa tal-ħobż, iżda wkoll ix-xogħol u l-ħila tal-komunità li bniet u żammet ħajja din it-tradizzjoni. Il-ħobż huwa parti essenzjali mill-identità ta' Ħal Qormi, iżda lil hinn mill-prodott innifsu, il-fran tradizzjonali huma spazji li jgħaqqdu lin-nies, isaħħu s-sens ta' komunità u jżommu ħaj il-wirt kulturali tal-lokal.

🇬🇧 We had the opportunity to visit St Paul's Bakery, a traditional bakery in Qormi that has been serving the local community for many years.During our visit, we saw firsthand how bread is made and the traditional tools that are still used today, many of which were crafted by local Qormi artisans. These tools not only tell the story of the bread-making trade but also reflect the skill, hard work, and dedication of the community that has kept this tradition alive. Bread is an essential part of Qormi's identity. Beyond the product itself, traditional bakeries are places that bring people together, strengthen the sense of community, and help preserve the town's cultural heritage.

🇲🇹 Matul ix-xhur tas-sajf, huwa importanti li żżomm f'moħħok xi miżuri ta' sigurtà kontra x-xemx li jipproteġuk mhux biss mis-sħana qawwija, iżda wkoll mir-raġġi ultravjola (UV) li jistgħu jagħmlu ħsara lill-ġilda. Segwi dawn il-pariri utli u aqsamhom mal-familja u l-ħbieb tiegħek:

☀Ilbes ħwejjeġ protettivi bħal kpiepel u nuċċalijiet tax-xemx biex tipproteġi rasek mix-xemx u tnaqqas l-esponiment għar-raġġi UV.
☀Ixrob ħafna ilma biex iżżomm ġismek idratat u frisk.
☀Applika ammont ġeneruż ta' krema protettiva mix-xemx (sunscreen) fuq il-partijiet kollha tal-ġilda esposti għax-xemx, u ftakar li terġa' tapplikaha kull sagħtejn biex tikseb l-aqwa protezzjoni. Partijiet li spiss jintesew huma l-wiċċ u n-naħa ta' wara tal-għonq.
☀Kull meta jkun possibbli, oqgħod fid-dell u evita d-dawl dirett tax-xemx, speċjalment bejn il-11:00am u l-4:00pm, meta r-raġġi tax-xemx ikunu fl-aktar qawwa tagħhom.

🇬🇧 During the summer time, it's important to keep in mind some sun safety measures which will protect you not only from the intense heat, but the harmful ultraviolet rays (UV) which can harm your skin. Practice these helpful tips, and share them amongst your family and friends:

☀Wear protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses to protect your head from the sun and reduce the exposure to UV rays.
☀Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and refreshed.
☀Apply plenty of sunscreen on all exposed skin, and remember to re-apply every two hours for maximum protection. Areas which are frequently forgotten are on the face and at the back of the neck.
☀Whenever possible, stay in the shade and avoid direct sunlight. Especially during the peak hours of 11:00am - 4:00pm, when the sun’s rays are the strongest.
