STANDING FAST IN THE LIBERTY OF GRACE
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4 (KJV)
The Apostle Paul's words in Galatians 5:4 is startling, yet it is the key to living in the joy and power of the Gospel. The phrase "fallen from grace" does not mean losing your salvation, but rather falling away from the principle of grace as your sole means of righteousness before God. It means reverting to a system where you believe your standing with God is maintained or improved by your law-keeping, religious performance, or good works.
To be "justified by the law" is to make Christ's sacrifice irrelevant ("of no effect") for your daily acceptance. It is to say, "Jesus' finished work got me in, but my own performance keeps me in good standing." This mindset places you back under the heavy "yoke of slavery" (Gal. 5:1) that Christ died to remove. It exchanges the rest of faith for the anxiety of self-justification.
Therefore, your daily posture must be one of actively standing fast in the liberty of grace (Gal. 5:1). This means consciously rejecting the voice that ties God's love to your performance. It means when you fail, you run to the cross for cleansing, not away from God in shame. It means your obedience flows from gratitude for unconditional love, not from fear of losing it. Your righteousness is, and always will be, a gift received by faith in Christ alone. Hallelujah!
PRAY WITH ME
Heavenly Father, thank You for the perfect, liberating gift of Your grace in Christ Jesus. Today, I consciously stand fast in this liberty. I renounce every thought, teaching, or mindset that would tempt me to seek justification or favor through my own works or law-keeping. I declare that Christ is fully effective for me. My righteousness, acceptance, and standing are forever secure in Him alone. I walk in the freedom and joy of Your unconditional love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
RECIPE FOR LIFE
Ingrecients for |Today:
Declare: "I stand fast in the liberty of grace. I am justified by faith in Christ, not by the works of the law."
Identify one area where you subtly feel you must "perform" to be a "good Christian" (prayer length, Bible study, service, etc.). Today, do that activity from a place of grace, thanking God for your acceptance in Christ as you do it.
Remember, grace and self-effort are mutually exclusive. You are either resting in His performance or striving in your own. Choose to rest. đď¸
