LifeCycle Challenge Malta Raising Funds and Awareness for Renal Patients in Malta. www.lifecyclefoundation.com LifeCycle Challenge. Cycling 2000 km in 10 days. Every amount helps. VO/0529

We cycle around the world to support the renal patients in Malta and Gozo. We also have a sister event known as LifeWalk. participants walk a 100 miles in 4 days. The LifeCycle Foundation was founded in 1999 on the Mediterranean island of Malta in order to create awareness and generate support for patients suffering from end-stage renal disease. Nowadays, a large portion of the money raised goes t

owards research in trying to determine causes and cures to kidney disease, improving the support systems for patients and raise funds and awareness. LifeCycle has three main aims:

To raise awareness about Renal Disease. To raise funds for the treatment of Renal patients. To increase research into the causes and possible cures for Renal failure. We would like to thank all those individuals, groups and businesses who are supporting our constant battle against Kidney Failure here in Malta. 2015 - "The saga continues"

The 2015 challenge took place in Iceland where 12 cyclists cycled around 2,000 km over 10 days to complete what was one of the toughest editions of the event. As they cycled clockwise around Iceland, they cycled from Akranes via Saudarkorkur, Laugar and Hofn on their way to Reykjavik.

They faced very cold weather around 3 degrees C, force 7 winds, 1,800 ft climbs and rough terrain on gravel roads which provided yet another challenge in itself. William Saliba, Lifecycle veteran with 15 Challenges completed remembers Iceland as "the toughest ever!" and Shirley Cefai, who was leading the group in the back-up team agrees "It was below zero, heavy rain every day with rough terrain or gravel. It was really really cold! The rain stopped only on the last day".

This tough challenge raised around which helped support patients suffering renal failure, improved the facilities at the Renal Unit of Mater Dei Hospital, funded research into kidney disease and possible cures and provided assistance and support services to patients and their families.

Since 1999, the LifeCycle Malta Foundation has cycled through 54 different countries, covering over 50,000 kilometers across some of the coldest and hottest places on Earth.

Seasoned veterans of the challenge recall that the coldest country visited was Iceland, where temperatures plummeted to as low as -20°C (-4°F). In contrast, the hottest destination was Oman, where temperatures soared to a blistering 50°C (122°F).

Sweet Treat at Final Checkpoint.
Now all training sessions end this way but we are glad yesterdays session did!
After a mammoth 3 hour training session packed with steep inclines, off the beaten track routes and scorching heat, we were all treated to a sweet treat by one of our cyclists.

Thank you so much to Katryna!
If all training sessions could end with this sweetness!

Good Morning All.
Yesterday Sunday Ride ended with a sweet sweet treat.
The routes keep getting more intense, longer and steeper! Yesterdays session took the cyclists across an arduous 3 hour long route packed with steep climbs, off road paths and more. The team spirit is growing steadily and the cyclists, back up team and committee members are bonding well.
Training this tough in Malta gives us a fighting chance to complete the challenge in Africa this September. Next Sunday...... is gonna be intense!
Support the journey.
Follow our mission.
