Professor Elena Moro is Professor of Neurology at Université Grenoble Alpes and heads the Department of Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurological Rehabilitation and Forensic Medicine at CHU Grenoble, France. She also directs the Movement Disorders Center in Grenoble. A leading international authority on the surgical treatment of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, she is best known for her work on deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Professor Moro studied medicine in Trieste and trained in neurology in Rome. She then completed a fellowship in surgery for movement disorders in Grenoble, the birthplace of subthalamic DBS. In 2012 she returned to Grenoble as Professor of Neurology.

Her research centers on restoring brain function through neuromodulation. It covers how DBS works, how to improve clinical outcomes for patients, and how to develop new surgical treatments. She has published more than 220 scientific papers. She has also trained many medical students, PhD students and neurology fellows.

Professor Moro has served on the board of the European Academy of Neurology as Treasurer and Secretary General, and has just finished her tenure as its President. She has also been actively involved in the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

We are a small NGO supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis. The more people who know about us, the more people we can reach and help. When some of us were diagnosed, there was less awareness about MS. We don’t want that to continue, that’s why growing our community matters.

The more people who are aware of the Society , who follow and share our page:
🧡 the more people with MS we can reach
🧡 the more awareness we can create
🧡 and the more visible we become to supporters and donors who help us continue our work.

If you believe in what we do, please help us by:
👉 Following our page
👉 Inviting friends and family to follow us
👉 Sharing posts that may help others

Every new follower and every share helps us reach further, and the more people who know about us, the more we can do for the MS community.

🧡 Thank you for helping our small NGO grow.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Mr Lawrence Zrinzo

The Malta Association of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons mourns the passing of Mr Lawrence Zrinzo, a pioneer who played an important role in the development of neurosurgery in Malta.

Throughout his career, he faced many challenging moments. One that stands out was the 1985 EgyptAir hijacking, when he worked tirelessly for days treating hostages who had sustained severe head injuries. It was a remarkable example of his dedication and commitment to his patients.

For many of us, however, Mr Zrinzo will be remembered just as much for the knowledge he shared as for the patients he treated. He was a gifted teacher, and his neuroanatomy lectures left a lasting impression on generations of neurologists and neurosurgeons. His depth of knowledge, patience and passion for the subject made him a teacher who was not easily forgotten.

He was a surgeon, a teacher and a thinker, and he brought a quiet wisdom to all three.

His contribution to medicine in Malta goes well beyond the work he did during his career. The generations of doctors he taught and influenced are perhaps his greatest legacy, carrying forward the knowledge and principles he shared with them.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and learning from him.

Rest in peace, Mr Zrinzo. You will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.
