The 18th Marsascala Girl Guides has been founded 18 years ago and today has more than 100 girls. Do
lphins are the youngest members of our group, 5 to 7 year olds. They meet every Wednesday from 6.00pm till 7.30pm where new friends are made and new skills are taught through games and fun activities. Brownies are from the age of 7 to 10 years. Brownies do lots of fun and exciting activities starting off from crafts, skills and service to the community. Their motto is 'Lend a Hand' which means that they try to do their best to help others and are encouraged to do things to their best ability. Brownies meet every Saturday afternoon from 4.00pm till 5.30pm. Guides (10 to 14years) meet on Friday evenings - Apart from following a varied programme, girls are encouraged to develop more their independence which goes hand in hand with their day to day experiences. The value of teamwork is fully exploited, which allows them to become more active during the meetings and activities. This is done to prepare these young women for their next step into the big world. The Guides section also includes many adventurous activities and challenges in their program. Rangers (+14 years) meet on Friday evenings- Following the footsteps of the guiding principles, these young women, through an age appropriate dynamic programme, are prepared to tackle different situations that life brings as they become older and more responsible citizens. One of the main aims is to empower them and give them the right skills and attitudes to be our future leaders and eventually take an active part in the running of the unit and teach skills to our younger girls. At the moment every section i.e. Dolphins, Brownies, Guides and Rangers have official warranted Guiders, where together with the help of Young Leaders and Unit Helpers, they dedicate their time to help these girls learn and grow into the empowered and independent women of the future. Each section works to help the girls grow in a holistic aspect through in-formal education and thus learning by doing. All sections take part in many activities such as pack holidays, camping, abseiling, crafts, enjoying and protecting the outdoors, talent shows, campfires, cookouts, DVD nights, sleepovers, helping in the community, day trips and so much more.
