Show of Arms prides itself on bringing history to the present day, and in preparation for our demonstrations, we practice Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). HEMA is the study and practice of Europe’s martial traditions, interpreting surviving historical sources such as manuscripts by Fiore Dei Liberi, Marozzo, Capoferro, and many others. These texts reveal how people once trained for combat, offering a direct connection to the past through texts and images.

Today, HEMA is both a martial art, and a dynamic form of physical exercise, and most importantly, it's a lot of fun with lots of friends! Whichever way you are interested in HEMA, it offers something truly different.

If this sounds like something you would like to try, contact us now. We would be delighted to welcome you.
