This year the Malta Amateur Radio League is again participaing with local scout groups during the JOTA-JOTI 2025.

This year, our Scout Group received funding from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ's Boost scheme to implement our project - 'Saving a Life' ❤️‍🩹

This project involved the purchase of an AED kit for our Headquarters. This is an invaluable tool that can potentially save a life in an emergency situation. In addition, we have also purchased a 'LifeVac' kit, which can be used to dislodge an item stuck in someone's throat if they are choking.

We're very grateful to Aġenzija Żgħażagħ for supporting us through this project. Although we hope that we will never need to use these tools, we are now better prepared to handle these kinds of scenarios that might arise during our meetings or activities.

Earlier this month, some of our Ventures undertook a 60km expedition around the island of Gozo as part of their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award🥈

Even with the weather fighting against them, they spent three days hiking whilst carrying all their food, tents and equipment in their rucksacks. Despite a few blisters, they really worked as a team and managed to push themselves all the way to the end!

They completed the requirements for their award, and have even set a new Group record, for the longest expedition undertaken within our Scout Group (so far...)

Big thanks to Xaghra Scout Group for letting us use their HQ during our Journey.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Malta

In 2027, some of our Scouts, Ventures and Leaders will be taking part in the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland 🇵🇱

Since this is set to be the largest contingent of Maltese Scouts ever attending a Jamboree, the Contingent Leaders have already started organising activities and workshops for both adult and youth participants. These were a great opportunity for our members to meet the Scouts from other Groups who will be joining them at the Jamboree.

Our Group recently attended 2 events organised by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ

In March, the Grant Award Ceremony was organised for all youth organisations who received funding throught the BOOST scheme this year. This year, our Group will be using this funding to purchase important health & safety equipment for our HQ.

In April, one of our Leaders attended Aġenzija Żgħażagħ's 4th Annual Conference - Sustaining Quality in Youth Organisations. It was a great opportunity to connect with other organisations, and explore new ways to strengthen our work with young people.

They all showed incredible teamwork, working together to complete as many tasks as possible before the game ended!

During yesterday's Ceremony, 3 of our Leaders were finally awarded their Woodbadge after many years of hard work 🪵

This achievement marks the end of their advanced training, and shows their constant effort to delivering a better programme for our members ⚜️
