Fondazzjoni Arka The Arka Foundation is a voluntary, non-governmental organization that promotes the welfare of people with special needs and their families.

In l995, the Arka Foundation felt the need of a Respite Centre in Gozo for disabled persons and their families. The local church donated a sizeable plot of land at Ghajnsielem, a few hundred metres away from the main harbour. Through the collective efforts of dedicated and talented Gozitans, under the guidance of the hard-working Mgr Manuel Curmi, a Respite Centre was built, the first one of its k

ind in Gozo. It was officially opened on 3rd December, 2000. It has three levels and can accommodate 32 clients in 19 bedrooms, eleven of which are en-suite. It is fully air-conditioned centrally heated and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including two therapeutic baths, two large heated pools, a whirlpool bath, a gym, and wheelchair-friendly facilities.
