Public Notice: Qui Si Sana Bathing Site Closure.

Qui Si Sana Bathing Site Reference Number: B14 is temporarily closed for bathing following a drainage overflow into the sea.The source of the overflow has been identified. Further updates will be provided once the site is confirmed safe to reopen.

​Skont id-Direttiva dwar il-Kwalità tal-Ilma għall-Għawm, id-Direttorat tas-Saħħa Ambjentali fi ħdan is-Sovrintendenza tas-Saħħa Pubblika jixtieq jinnotifika lill-pubbliku li, bħala miżura ta' prekawzjoni, l-għawm mhuwiex irrakkomandat minħabba tnixxija ta' drenaġġ fis-sit indikat.

Dan l-inċident jista' jaffettwa l-kwalità tal-ilma tal-għawm u jista' joħloq riskju għas-saħħa tal-għawwiema. L-EHOs qed iwettqu aktar investigazzjonijiet biex jiddeterminaw is-sors u l-estensjoni tal-kontaminazzjoni. F'dan l-istadju, it-tul tal-kontaminazzjoni ma jistax jiġi previst.

🇬🇧 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE NOTICE

​According to the Bathing Water Directive, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to notify the public that, as a precautionary measure, bathing is not recommended due to an overflow of sewage into the sea in the site indicated.

This incident may affect bathing water quality and poses a potential risk to bathers' health. EHOs are carrying out further investigations to determine the source and extent of the contamination. At this stage, the duration of the contamination cannot be predicted.

Signs indicating the area have been fixed in the area. When the quality is restored, the signs will be removed, and another press release will be issued to notify the public that the site is again fit for bathing.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the suspected food poisoning incident reported in the media.

Foodborne illness investigations are an important part of protecting public health, and we acknowledge the work being carried out by our members who form part of the Food Safety and Security Authority.

We wish all those affected a speedy recovery.

Those affected are understood to have eaten food supplied by the same caterer before falling ill
