🌎 On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Dar Hosea calls on Malta to confront a difficult truth:

Human Trafficking and Prostitution cannot be addressed in isolation. They are deeply interconnected forms of exploitation, driven by inequality, coercion, violence and the demand to buy another human being.

Every day, we walk alongside women whose lives have been shaped by abuse, poverty, manipulation and exploitation. Their stories remind us that behind every statistic is a person whose dignity has been violated and whose freedom has been taken away. They deserve more than sympathy; they deserve protection, justice and real opportunities to rebuild their lives.

Malta urgently needs a bold, survivor-centered policy that attacks the root of this exploitation.

We remain deeply alarmed by proposals to legalise or fully decriminalize prostitution. Decriminalizing the s*x trade does not liberate women; it legitimises the exploiters, expands the commercial s*x market, and provides legal cover for traffickers to operate and profit with impunity.

Dar Hosea therefore calls for policies that:

▫️ Protect and support girls and women affected by prostitution and trafficking.

▫️ Hold those who create demand accountable by criminalising the purchase of s*xual acts, while never criminalising those who are exploited.

▫️ Invest in meaningful exit pathways through housing, healthcare, trauma-informed care, education and employment.

▫️ Address the root causes of exploitation through prevention, awareness and coordinated national action.

The measure of a society is how it protects its most vulnerable. Malta must choose policies that uphold human dignity over commercial exploitation, place survivors at the centre of every response, and reject any system that treats human beings as commodities.

No one should ever be bought or sold!

On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we call on government, policymakers and every member of our community to stand with survivors and work towards a Malta where every person can live free from exploitation, trafficking and violence.

It's time to welcome you once again to my childhood home 🧡

Thrift ix-Xlokk has become by far my favourite event (not solely because im the one organsing it) - but because I get to share one of my favourite places with you. I grew up in the garden. It's a place of memories - from playing with my cousins as kids to celebrating birthdays, graduations and everything in between! It's always been a peaceful space & after the success of the last two events I was super excited to host the third edition!

Sooo whether this is your first time hearing about Thrift ix-Xlokk or you’ve been with us since the start, you are invited to join us for the chillest thrift event in the south - where you can meet new people, have a beer in the garden and find yourself some goodies from local artists or uncover some clothing treasure. 🌿

As always apart from the curated thrift/vintage clothing there will be a separate section of secondhand clothes available for a donation, with all proceeds going to Dar Hosea.

Dar Hosea was in Paris marking 10 years since the French abolitionist law, coming together not only to celebrate, but to renew hope and strengthen the movement for justice.

The gathering brought together survivors, feminists, activists, policymakers, and frontline movements from around the world. In solidarity and shared determination, one message stood out: the movement to end the exploitation of women and girls in prostitution continues to grow stronger.

Together in the streets, voices united, we affirmed a shared vision of dignity and freedom.

No woman should be bought.
No woman should be exploited!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a true pioneer in the social field, a leader who embodied humility, compassion and an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others. Her legacy will continue to inspire many to lead with purpose, integrity and care.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her inspiring presence. May she rest in peace.

Tribute to Graziella Castillo

It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Graziella Castillo, Director of Agenzija Appogg. A loss that is deeply felt across her family, her colleagues and the many lives she so quietly and powerfully touched.

Graziella was more than a leader. She was a source of strength, compassion and humanity in a field that demands all three in abundance. She carried the weight of responsibility with grace, always guided by an unshakable belief that every person deserves to be heard, supported and treated with dignity.

Behind her role and achievements was a woman of immense kindness and empathy. She never lost sight of the human stories behind the work: the vulnerable, the unheard, the struggling, day after day, to ensure they were not alone.

Her presence brought reassurance. Her leadership brought direction. Her heart brought warmth to an organisation and a sector that relied so much on both courage and care.

Graziella leaves behind a legacy that cannot simply be measured in policies or programmes, but in the lives she helped steady, the people she inspired and the compassion she embedded into the very fabric of Agenzija Appogg.

She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever appreciated.

May she rest in eternal peace.
