Toastmasters Malta Toastmasters Malta is a club that offers a safe space to practice public speaking & leadership.

Meetings are held in hybrid every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month, starting at 18:15. Toastmasters Malta is the local branch of Toastmasters International Experience first-hand Toastmasters Malta by joining our next online meeting as a guest. By joining as a guest you will get the opportunity to observe a Toastmasters Malta meeting. Sign up on toastmastersmalta.org.mt/our-next-meeting/

If you eventually decide to embark on the Toastmasters Malta journey, you will benefit from:
+ Attendance to all Toastmasters Malta in-person or online sessions, which are held every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month, starting at 18:15 CET.
+ A safe space to conduct speeches (at your own will) in a positive environment and receive a constructive evaluation.

We often think of communication as the ability to speak well. But before we can speak well, we need to be able to think well. 💭

In this video, Eileen Gu touches on something that resonates strongly with what we practise at Toastmasters: developing our own thoughts, articulating them clearly, and being able to respond when we don’t have time to prepare.

That’s exactly the challenge of Table Topics. You’re asked an unexpected question, given only a few seconds to gather your thoughts, and then you speak.

There’s no script and no perfect answer. The real exercise is learning to think on your feet, find your message and give it a voice.

Who says bad ideas can't lead to something great? 😄

At our latest Toastmasters Malta meeting, our Toastmaster of the Evening, Travis, took us on a fun journey through the theme “Bad Ideas” — proving once again that even the most unusual ideas can spark great conversations!

Some meetings are about speaking. Others remind us how much courage it takes to truly help someone grow. 🌱

Our latest Toastmasters Malta meeting was a little different: a members-only evening with a wonderfully intimate atmosphere, dedicated to one of the most valuable — and sometimes most challenging — skills we practise at Toastmasters: giving meaningful feedback.

We were delighted to welcome fellow Toastmaster Julien Desjobert from Geneva, who led a workshop on how to give impactful evaluations.

After introducing us to a practical evaluation technique, it was time to put it into action. Our own Evelyn delivered a speech, and then we all had the opportunity to evaluate it, applying Julien’s teachings straight away.

And that led to some very interesting conversations.

How brave do you need to be to tell someone what they could improve? How do you give constructive feedback without discouraging or hurting the other person? And how do you make sure your feedback actually helps them grow?

Because giving feedback isn't just about finding the right words. It requires courage, empathy, honesty and respect.

And ultimately, that’s leadership too. 💡

A big thank you to Julien for sharing his experience with us, to Evelyn for giving us the perfect opportunity to practise, and to Mark, our Toastmaster of the Evening, for guiding us through this special meeting.

You don't know who Julien is?
Julien has been a Toastmaster since 2014 and is currently a member of four clubs in the Geneva area, as well as an Area Director in Division D.

In 2026, he was runner-up in the District 109 Evaluation Contest.

Outside Toastmasters, Julien works in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence — and he particularly enjoys evaluations because they bring together three things he loves: analytical thinking, improvisation, and just the right amount of wit.
