Toastmasters Malta is a club that offers a safe space to practice public speaking & leadership.

Meetings are held in hybrid every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month, starting at 18:15. Toastmasters Malta is the local branch of Toastmasters International Experience first-hand Toastmasters Malta by joining our next online meeting as a guest. 💡 Bright Ideas, Different Venue, Brilliant Evening! 💡

Yesterday's Toastmasters meeting in the beautiful Valletta conference room of @.mt was packed with energy, laughter, and creativity.

We were delighted to welcome a large audience, including many first-time guests and fellow Toastmasters moving to Malta. The room was buzzing with enthusiasm from start to finish!

Our Table Topics session challenged participants to think on their feet with some wonderfully unconventional scenarios:

🤔 How would you explain to your parents that you've quit your job, left your spouse, sold your house, and decided to become a priest?

🐨 How would you convince the authorities to let you bring a koala home from Australia?

🚀 How would you persuade Elon Musk to fund the production of your very own clone?

While the questions sparked plenty of laughter, they also highlighted something important: Toastmasters is much more than public speaking. It develops creativity, persuasion, quick thinking, storytelling, and even a touch of salesmanship. Aren't these all valuable skills in both professional and personal life?

We also enjoyed two engaging prepared speeches:

🥙 A humorous presentation exploring how a traditional Maltese ftira can solve even the most persistent hunger crisis.

⏳ A thought-provoking speech about our most precious resource: TIME, and how we choose to spend it.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, visited, spoke, evaluated, and helped create such a memorable evening. Meetings like these remind us that learning can be both meaningful and fun.

See you on June 23rd again at Avenue 77! Can't wait!

📍 Different Venue for Our June Meetings

Oh yes, our club is growing 🥰 and therefore we need more space

For the next two meetings, we’ll be hosted by .mt in the beautiful Valletta conference room!

Meeting dates:

Meetings will commence at our usual time 6:30 pm, but we highly recommend arriving 10 minutes in advance due to strict entry policy.

📚 Role Spotlight: Grammarian

The Grammarian helps everyone become better communicators.

At the beginning of the meeting, they introduce a Word of the Day and encourage members to use it.

During the meeting they also observe:

✔ Interesting phrases
✔ Grammar improvements

Here are the key benefits for the member who takes this role:

The Grammarian pays close attention to word choice, grammar, and sentence structure during the meeting.
This develops a stronger sense of language precision and helps members:

At the beginning of the meeting, the Grammarian introduces the Word of the Day and explains its use.

Feedback is where growth happens.
The Speech Evaluator listens carefully to a speaker’s presentation and provides constructive, supportive feedback.

A great evaluation highlights:
✔ What worked well
✔ What could be improved
✔ Specific suggestions for growth

The goal isn’t criticism — it’s helping speakers become better every time they step on stage.

Taking the Speech Evaluator role is one of the most valuable learning opportunities in a Toastmasters meeting. While it focuses on giving feedback to a speaker, it also helps the evaluator develop powerful communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Here are some key benefits for the member performing this role:

🔎 1. Developing Active Listening Skills

A Speech Evaluator must listen carefully not only to what the speaker says, but also how they say it.

This involves observing speech structure, body language, vocal variety, audience engagement

This level of attention strengthens active listening, a skill that is essential in leadership, teamwork, and professional communication.

💬 2. Practicing Constructive Feedback

One of the most important abilities in any professional environment is giving clear and constructive feedback.

On May 12th, along our usual meeting, we will be holding our Committee Elections for the next term!
