Kaccaturi San Ubertu (Saint Hubert Hunters) KSU, a voluntary organization representing around 3,000 members registered as VO1049, is an organization of Maltese hunters governed by a strict code of conduct founded on March 14, 1996. Founded on March 14, 1996 its aim is to promote sustainable hunting in the Maltese islands in line with EU Directives. KSU practices a policy of zero tolerance towards
any hunting illegalities and vets all of its members prior to acceptance. KSU works to consolidate, promote and develop sustainable hunting and live-capture in Malta as well as to conserve the natural environment. KSU manages the Natura 2000 protected coastal site Ghadira s-Safra in collaboration with the Environment Resource Authority as a nature conservation area with a particular interest in bird watching. KSU also closely collaborates with an independent group of ornithologists and promotes bird photography amongst its members. KSU works to preserve hunting and live-capture of birds in our islands. It regularly holds meeting and corresponds with local and European Union authorities. Apart from conducting environmental projects such as tree planting and the preservation of the natural environment KSU also carries out an annual spring migration survey amongst its members throughout the period when derogation is applied for limited hunting in spring. This report is presented to the EU Commission and the Maltese authorities for their evaluation of fact.
