Our partner Renatura Congo celebrated Biodiversity Day by sharing the storybook Keita and the Dolphins in . Through this engaging tale, children learned about aquatic ecosystems and the importance of protecting dolphins and biodiversity. Storytelling proved a powerful tool to inspire young minds and connect them to nature conservation efforts in Congo.

To celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, our partner Tube Awù Ebodjé engaged children in through Atlantic Humpback Dolphin coloring activities and the Keita and the Dolphins storybook, helping young minds connect with marine biodiversity in a fun and meaningful way.

Update from the field: The CCAHD-AACF team has had a great few days in the Delta Saloum, with dolphin sightings every day.

Diana Seck and Gianna Minton are adding lots of photos to the individual identification catalogue; Clinton Factheu has made some good recordings of the dolphins clicks and vocalizations; and Leveto Mendes, Adjunct Director of a Marine Protected Area in the Bijagos Archipelago, Guinea Bissau, has been able to get hands-on experience with the CCAHD dolphin survey protocol as well as exchange experiences and ideas with the Conservator and an agent of two MPAs in the Delta Saloum.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐚!

The CCAHD and partner African Aquatic Conservation Fund, started the second half of their annual Saloum Delta survey by welcoming Leveto Mendes from Guinea Bissau. Leveto helps to manage a marine protected area in the Bijagos Archipelago, an area that also hosts Critically Endangered Atlantic humpback dolphins.

Over the next 10 days the team will be mapping dolphin distribution, conducting photo identification, making acoustic recordings, and sharing experiences with each other. Watch this space for updates!

C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès prématuré de l'un de nos partenaires, Alexandre Dah, Président de l' ONG Conservation des Espèces Marines (CEM) en Côte d'Ivoire.

Alexandre était un partenaire actif au sein de notre réseau ; il avait participé et contribué à l’atelier CCAHD - Streetwhale organisé en décembre 2024 au Cameroun, et supervisait un projet soutenu par le CCAHD visant à recenser les prises accessoires et les observations de cétacés dans le port de Grand Bereby.

Our network of 120+ partners worked across 19 countries to protect the Critically Endangered Atlantic humpback dolphin in 2025.

We hosted six bilingual webinars for 580+ participants, discovered new dolphin populations in Cameroon, and carried out surveys, school outreach, and stranding response across West and Central Africa.
