Mongolian Coal Association /The Association / is a National Association for the coal sector of the country, was established on January 12, 1998. On dates of June 03rd, 2004 and of November 19th, 2011 the Association has renewed its registration with the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, and General Authority for State registration of Mongolia. It is a non-for- profit and a non- governmenta

l organization, consists of members in the major coal mines, coal producers, coal enterprises, coal related institutions and schools of Mongolia, as well as professional individuals. The Association is to participate in activities to elaborate the legal conditions in the coal sector of Mongolia, take part in defining and drafting of all policies, implement the state industrial policies, rules and regulations, safeguard the legitimate rights of the member organizations and individuals, provide services, develop the international cooperation, raise the efficiency, conduct modern technologies, strengthen management as well as management personnel of the coal industry of the country. Members of Association are classified in the following categories:
a. Core member (organization, business entity, individual)
b. Supportive member (organization, business entity, individual)

The Association has over two hundred members/including individuals and enterprises/ and most of them are Mongolian mining engineers, specialists and national coal mining companies that serve as core members. The Association that started with around 20 companies such as “Aduunchuluun” and Talbulag mining, the main fuel providers of the power plant and local steam producers in eastern region from 1955, “Hartarvagatai” and Hotgor mining, the fuel provider of the western region from 1970, the only fuel provider of southern region of the country Tavantolgoi coalmining, and providers of the main power plants of Mongolia which are “Baganuur”, “Shivee Ovoo” and “Sharyn Gol”- all steam coal producers, is expanding greatly as Mongolian coal sector, production, and trade have been developing rapidly. Year by year our membership expands to top Mongolian companies such as Energy Resources JCS listed at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as Mongolian Mining Corporation, Hunnu Resources JCS listed at the Australian Stock Exchange as Hunnu Coal, and the biggest coal project in Mongolia – Tavan Tolgoi coal mining and others.
