The largest MEGA DAM PROJECT outside Luzon is what keeping Iloilo safe from flooding.
Studies show that iloilo is vulnerable to sea level rise and land subsidence, by managing water flow from the Jalaur River, the project can help mitigate floods caused by heavy rainfall and typhoons, which are also exacerbated by rising sea levels and land subsidence.
As a multipurpose project, the dam’s primary purpose is flood mitigation, hydroelectricity generation and uninterrupted irrigation water to 32,000 hectares of lloilo farmland, benefit more than 783,000 farmers and increase annual production of rice to 300,000 metric tons from 140,000.
The Php 11-16Billion project is a long term initiative from the last 3 administrations🇵🇭 in partnership with the South Korean🇰🇷 counterparts.
The project is being constructed by DAEWOO E&C and funded by the Korean and Filipino people.
