Peace & Justice Myanmar is a local non-governmental organization on civic engagement, women empowerment, peace, development and social workers who share common interest in building peaceful relationships among and between people from various ethnic and religious traditions faith and environment.

The Organizational Profile of Peace & Justice Myanmar (PJM)

Historical Background

Peace & Justice Myanmar (PJM) was established in 2014 by a group of like-minded Myanmar nationals. Since then, PJM has been engaging in civic education, civic engagement, voter education and electoral reform sectors in collaboration with local and international actors. PJM had successfully conducted election observation in the historic General Election (2015) and in the 2017 by-election.

Our Story

The Organizational Profile of Peace & Justice Myanmar (PJM)

Founded in January 2014, Peace & Justice Myanmar (PJM) is a neutral and non-profit civil society organization motivated “Towards Peaceful and Prosperous Society”. Since our founding, PJM has been engaging in civic education, civic engagement, voter education, election observation and electoral reform sectors in collaboration with local and international actors with the vision of "Peace with Equal, Just and Inclusive Democratic Society". We promote credibility and free and fair elections through observation on electoral processes and electoral legal reforms. We strengthen the civic voice in legislative processes by advancing civic engagement (participation) platform. And, we enhance active participation of the public especially youth and women in politics through civic education. Moreover, we strive for pro-people policies and laws through research and evidence-based advocacy. In addition, we promote peace process through coordination and participation in every national peace building activity.

We have been conducting election observation mission in 2015 and 2017. In the 2015 General Elections, we observed the performance of the EMBs and the legal framework in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region and Ayeyarwaddy Region. In the 2017 By-election, we did the election observation nationwide in partnership with Charity-Oriented Myanmar (COM) and Hornbill Organization (HBO). Our registration number is 1/Domestic/0411.
