It is an exciting opportunity to get immersed in a beautiful and changing country. Through placing experienced volunteers, Teach for Myanmar (TFM) aims to provide education to individuals from civil society organizations in Myanmar in order to equip them with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and qualifications necessary to pursue their goals related to the social, civic, and economic development o
f the country. TFM seeks to place dedicated, flexible and hard working people in Myanmar to teach mostly English, with some opportunities to teach Social Sciences and conduct trainings and workshops in other areas, for a minimum of three months. Teachers are expected to teach at least three hours per day at their host organization and to integrate critical thinking skills, and social and civic development themes throughout their lessons. Volunteers receive appropriate financial, teaching and logistical support during their placement. Volunteers will be able to consult with the program manager at any time about logistical, social or academic issues that may arise. Volunteering with TFM requires pragmatism, patience, independence, initiative and a genuine respect for the host people and their culture.
