SONNE Social Organization A small local NGO, providing Education and Healthcare for children from the slums of South Dagon.
(1)

No religion, no politics - just humanity, solidarity and kindness! Our goal is to give those most vulnerable children and young people perspectives and a chance to lead a life in dignity – through provision of comprehensive care and support in education, health care, nutrition and assistance of families. Currently, about 1500 children, adolescents and their families benefit from our projects. Looking ahead, we want to expand our operations and team in order to enlarge our impact and turn more children’s challenging lives into lives full of chances.

TUESDAY is FREE mobile HEALTH camp day at SONNE - with our doctors, nurses, helpers, equipment and boxes of medication we go to places where people do not have access to healthcare - or simply can not afford to consult a doctor and pay for medicine and treatment .

We go to refugee (IDP) camps, to orphanages, children’s homes - or as today, set up the camp inside one of our schools, which are located in some of the poorest parts of eastern Yangon.

Especially elderly people, women (pregnant, young mothers), children and disabled people were treated today - now in rainy season especially infectious diseases and skin infections are common issues.

Thankfully, because of our Emergency Fund, which is funded by kind people from all over the world, we are able to help many people every week, and potentially save lives!

Thank you everyone for your support for the people of Myanmar! We greatly appreciate every contribution!

Supporting our work is as easy as using one of these links - thank you very much ❤️

The water will go down. The problems will remain.

Massive flooding in northern Ayeyarwaddy Division, Ngathainchaung Township
ဧရာဝတီတိုင်း ငသိုင်းချောင်း မြို့နယ်

Hundreds of square kilometres are flooded, in some places 2–3 metres deep. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced and are now living on higher ground in emergency shelters made from bamboo and tarpaulin.

Most are small-scale farmers, mainly growing rice, fruit and vegetables.

The water will eventually recede. But their harvest is already gone.

For many families, this means no income to feed their families and no money to repay the loans they depend on for the next season. Many will return to damaged houses and destroyed fields.

Clean drinking water is another major problem.

Several calls for help reached us at SONNE Social Organization, so we decided to go ourselves. After our experience with the Inle Lake earthquake response last year, we knew we could be useful.

We provided emergency assistance to 300 affected families, including cash, drinking water and basic medicines.

A special thank you to Thongwa Water Rescue, who took us by boat to the remote village of မီးသွေးကုန်း.

It was encouraging to see so many local charities and private initiatives helping, with volunteers, water and emergency supplies heading into the affected areas.

This was only possible because of the SONNE Emergency Fund.

Supported by people from Myanmar and around the world, the fund allows our local team to act quickly when an emergency happens.

Thank you to everyone who supports us. ❤️

Not just numbers on a list. But real children with a name and a story to tell.

Siblings May Yee Lin and Htun Ko Ko wanted to say “Thank You” for your support - so they can visit our school instead of having to work - (a sad reality for many children here)

Have a great Tuesday everyone, with ❤️ from ☀️ in 🇲🇲
