YCT aims to support the increased active involvement of women and youth in the wider political, social and development process in Myanmar. (Scroll down for the English text)
Yaung Chi Thit (YCT) is a community based organisation in Rakhine State, Myanmar. By organizing workshops and trainings YCT is increasing the awareness and to improve the social status of these people. The last years YCT had
many successful trainings, however, they constantly have financial issues. YCT has some donors, but they are only sponsoring specific project and only for short periods. Because of this is not possible to organise projects for the long term while this is really necessary to the gain trust of the people. This is why YCT asked our help. We are a group of students and participants of Peace of Minds Academy. Peace of Minds Academy is a project of Upact with the goal to learn students about the work of a development organisation by founding a project for such an organisation abroad. We are working on a plan for YCT so they can attract sustainable funders in the future. After researching the weaknesses of YCT we concluded that the marketing and communication can improve. By launching a website, taking care for promotion materials (business cards and flyers) and offering management and communication trainings to the local staff we want to improve these points. Finally this should result in attracting the interest of sustainable funders to sponsor YCT. To achieve this we need money as well. That is why we are working on a crowd funding campaign. De organisatie zet zich in voor de mensenrecht van de plaatselijke bevolking. Door het organiseren van workshops en trainingen lukt het de organisatie om de bewustwording te vergroten en de sociale status van deze mensen te verbeteren. De afgelopen jaren hebben ze met hun trainingen al veel succes gehad, echter lopen ze continu tegen financiële problemen aan. Ze hebben een paar donoren, maar deze financieren alleen maar bepaalde projecten en zijn maar voor kortere duur. Hierdoor is het niet mogelijk om projecten voor langere termijn op te zetten terwijl dit juist nodig is om het vertrouwen van mensen te winnen. YCT heeft daarom onze hulp ingeroepen. Wij zijn een groep studenten en deelnemers aan Peace of Minds Academy. Peace of Minds Academy is een project van Upact en heeft als doel studenten kennis te laten maken met het werk voor een ontwikkelingsorganisatie door zelf een project op te zetten voor zo'n organisatie in het buitenland. We zijn bezig een plan op te zetten zodat YCT in de toekomst duurzame donoren kan aantrekken. Na het onderzoeken van de valkuilen zijn we tot de conclusie gekomen dat er onder andere op het gebied van marketing en communicatie nog verbeterpunten zijn. Door het opzetten van een website, het verzorgen van promotiemateriaal (visitekaartjes en flyers) en het aanbieden van trainingen op het gebied van management, organisatie en communicatie aan de staf willen we deze punten verbeteren. Uiteindelijk zou dit dan de interesse van duurzame donoren moeten trekken om YCT te sponsoren. Om dit te bewerkstelligen hebben we ook geld nodig. Daarom zijn we op dit moment bezig een crowd funding campagne op te zetten. Binnenkort kunt u ons vinden op de website van de 1% Club hiervoor, maar daarover later meer.
