Social Accountability hinges on the principle that administrations are accountable to the people they govern; it implies that those govern have an obligation to inform the people they serve about what they are doing and deliver core public services accountability. Communities, eq

ually, have a right to those services, to know what is going on to participate in the decisions affecting their lives. Central to this are the concepts of active communities and responsive duty bearers. The project is being implemented by 3 partner organisations; Oxfam, Spectrum and Scholar Institute. SAcc is implementing in Kachin, Kayin, Rakhine and Ayeyarwaddy. Oxfam is leading in Kachin and Ayeyarwaddy while Spectrum is implementing the project in Kayin and Scholar Institute is leading in Rakhine.

It’s a 4 years project funded by European Union. Social Accountability hinges on the principle that administrations are accountable to the people they govern; it implies that those govern have an obligation to inform the people they serve about what they are doing and deliver core public services accountability. Communities, equally, have a right to those services, to know what is going on to participate in the decisions affecting their lives.
