Originally, it started in 1989 during all schools were closed after the pro-democracy movement in 1988 in Myanmar. At the time of prodemocracy movement in the whole Myanmar in 1988, the military government couped the state power and all schools were closed and students were forced to study at schools. And, we were worried about the youths who had nowhere to go for study, but just wasting the preci
ous time of their younger days. Hence, Mr Tatsuo Fujimura who was the JICA chief representative to Myanmar and I, having the same idea of how to help them study something beneficial for the future of country and the youths as well, made up our mind to find the most practicle ways. Then, we were kindly offered a vanue to teach Japanese language by Sayataw U Pyinnyadipa at his monastery in North Oakkalapa. Since then, Mr Fujimura started his voluntary teaching of Japanese language and the number of students increased day after day in thousands as there was no place to learn for the youths in Yangon. Some of Japanese who were having business in Yangon kindly helped teaching at our Japanese classes on weekends. After some years of Sayataw U Pyinnyadipa passing away, due to some difficulties, our Japanese classes were moved to the current place at Dhamma Vihara Monastery in Thingangyun Township in early 2000 with the kind supports and permission of Sayataw U Garu Wunsabiwunsa. GET - Global Education & Training was organized at the Dhamma Vihara Monastery mainly for the Youth in need to build their capacity in global language studies and vocational trainings to brighten their future and generate their income opportunities. Since the early time of our activities, some of our generous well wishing partners contribute certain necessities. We are very pleased to acknowledge with much appreciation for the continued supports of Mjet - Myanmar Japan Ecotourism, Tokyo and JAMYA - Japan Myanmar Youth Association. In 2019, the activities of GET were paid keen interest by HHRA - Hokkaido Humam Resource Association for closer collaborations. After feasible studies for mutual benefits, the top authorities of GET and HHRA could make an mutual agreement for further and closer cooperation in the activities at GET.
