Myanmar Livestock Resources Development Association

Myanmar Livestock Resources Development Association MLRD has worked together with FAO and OIE on in-country research activities. MLRD has 16 members and 44% of which are women.

Myanmar Livestock Resources Development Association (MLRD) is one of the centralized associations of the Myanmar Livestock Federation (MLF) and focuses on research and technical livestock matters. MLRD started in 2012 as a researcher group to help MLF conduct research activities together with UN organizations, international organizations, INGOs, NGOs, government departments, and other partner orga

nizations. MLRD’s objectives are to coordinate research activities between MLF and other organizations, share technical information and research findings to MLF and its members, and to serve as a resource center for livestock development. As the association is under MLF, the membership dues go to MLF. MLRD is currently negotiating with MLF to find funding for further research activities. MLRD is led by an executive committee of 5 members with a high rate of women involvement (80%). The executive committee is elected every three years, with the current executive committee elected in 2015.
