Nearly 500 students at Pyin Nyar Oo Yin Monastic School in Taunggyi now have improved access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene facilities, solar power and essential learning materials.

With funding from the Government of Japan, UNOPS supported the construction and rehabilitation of key facilities, including bathing stations, toilets, a deep-drilled tube well, a water treatment plant and hybrid solar systems.

The improvements help provide a safer, healthier and more dignified learning environment for students, including children affected by displacement.

The project also supports local ownership, with school leadership, village elders and students involved in maintaining the new systems.

Thank you to the Government of Japan for its continued support of communities in Myanmar.
