REALMS BEYOND BORDERS III: Spirit Realm

Composers:
Saw Moses (Myanmar)
Pana Topoonyanont (Thailand)
Monika Herzig (Germany)

Description:
Spirit Realm is the third movement of the Realms Beyond Borders concert and unfolds as a space of ease, clarity, and gentle suspension. Here, struggle dissolves into flow, and awareness rests lightly within the natural rhythms of existence. Time softens. Breath becomes music. The world feels momentarily complete.

Yet beneath this boundless calm lies a quiet fragility. This realm can only be understood in relation to those that came before it—the Planes of Misery and the striving of the Human Realm. Detached from suffering, Spirit risks forgetting its purpose. Bliss without remembrance becomes weightless, ungrounded, and subtly dangerous. When awareness drifts too far from compassion, the Spirit Realm itself becomes cyclical, drawing us back toward lower realms, not as punishment, but as reminder.

I Somewhere (Saw Moses):
..captures the feeling of suddenly finding yourself in an unfamiliar world. It begins with motifs of surprise, shifts into a heartbeat-like rhythm that reflects curiosity and fear, and unfolds through improvisation where these emotions merge into a search for understanding and acceptance of this mysterious new place.

II Form (Pana):

The song moves at a slow, gentle pace, creating a calm atmosphere. It brings a sense of peace and ease. It isn’t happy or sad—simply peaceful.

III Sacred Earth (Monika):

Humanity needs to find its way back to respect nature and realize that we are only a very small part of a large ecosystem. If we keep destroying the environment, we are destroying the very essence of our being. Only by honoring and integrating with nature we will have a future.

REALMS BEYOND BORDERS IV: Immaterial Realm

Composers:

Armin & Nardin (Iran)
Moe Myat May Zarchi (Myanmar)

Descriptions:

This is the 4th and final movement from the RBB concert and reflects the samsaric cycles of existence and our journey into nothingness. The composition incorporates moments of silence to contrast with the chaos that has dominated the current situation of our world, specifically in Iran and Myanmar.

Composers Notes:

"How did we end up here?
How did we pop up into existence?
Where were we before we were born?
All I remember is nothing, and still, somehow, here I am.
And I think to myself… oh, how do I hear myself thinking? I know there’s actually no sound but I hear the words clearly… is that what silence sounds like?
Let’s listen from the beginning and hear the silence in between…"
