Water is one of the simplest things we take for granted, yet it's one of the most powerful forces for change. When children have access to safe water and sanitation, they are healthier, more likely to attend school, and better able to learn and thrive.

But lasting progress requires more than infrastructure. It requires solutions designed with communities, strengthened by local systems, and scaled through meaningful partnerships.

In this episode of Vision Talks, Teresa (Terry) Ferrari, Regional Leader of World Vision East Asia, shares how World Vision and corporates are working with communities across East Asia to bring safe water, sanitation, and hygiene closer to the children and families who need it most.

World Vision East Asia is driving transformational change across one of the world’s most vulnerable regions, reaching over 5.8 million people, including 3.2 million children, through locally-led, multi-sectoral programs. By addressing the root causes of child vulnerability, such as poverty, climate shocks, malnutrition, and weak protection systems, World Vision is reshaping futures through education, health, livelihoods, and child protection.

In 2025, communities faced repeated shocks, from the devastating earthquake in Myanmar to the growing strain of climate-related disasters. In the midst of loss and uncertainty, our teams remained present, walking alongside children and families every step of the way. Across 19 emergency responses, World Vision in East Asia region provided lifesaving assistance to more than 976,956 people affected by crises. Their courage and the dedication of our teams working in some of the most difficult conditions is a powerful reminder of what it means to serve with dignity and compassion.

Through advocacy, World Vision advanced 206 policy changes, helping shape systems that protect children far beyond our direct programming. These efforts have influenced 34 million children, extending the impact of the 3.2 million children we reached directly. Meanwhile, our faithbased programming continued to grow, strengthening childrenʼs well-being, dignity, belonging, and hope.

From climate-smart agriculture and disaster preparedness to inclusive education and safe migration, World Vision’s integrated approach is building a more just and hopeful East Asia. Innovation, evidence-based advocacy, and a commitment to safeguarding ensure that every child not only survives but also learns, thrives, and leads change.
