A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia this week, causing significant damage and affecting communities across the region.
Our W.A.T.A. communities in La Guajira were not directly affected, but Colombia has become a big part of what we’re building. We already have work underway there, including another clean water project planned for October, and we have a growing network of partners, friends, and community leaders throughout the country.
Right now, we want to find a way to help the communities affected by the earthquake.
We’re working through our local connections to find a route into these communities and figure out how W.A.T.A. can mobilize support on the ground. While we work on making that happen, funds raised for Colombia during this time will go toward supporting our earthquake response.
If you want to help us make it possible:
💧 Donate directly to our Colombia fund
🇨🇴 Grab one of our W.A.T.A. Cup Colombia jerseys
🧶 Shop our Wayuu mochilas, handmade by women in Colombia
📲 Follow along as we build the response and share what comes next
We’re also continuing to prepare for our return to Colombia in October and the next phase of our clean water work there.
A lot is happening in Colombia right now. We’re going to keep building, keep making connections, and find the best way we can get to work.
