We Won 1st Place & $25,000 at the MUCAT Design Innovation Competition Showcasing at the Senior Design Expo!

We are incredibly proud to share that Team S.M.A.R.T. Wheelchair has been awarded First Place and a $25,000 prize in the Miami University Center for Assistive Technology (MUCAT) Design Innovation Competition!

This milestone comes on the heels of an outstanding showcase at the Senior Design Expo, where we presented our prototype and business model for a modular, electric-powered, smart wheelchairs 🦼 retrofit system — built to empower users with greater independence, standing support, and smart pressure-relief features.

"Since sophomore year is coming to a close, here’s a little life/summer update! I’ll be interning at the Dementia Research Center in Singapore under Nanyang Technological University with Dr. Kandiah’s lab for the summer where I will pursue my passion and interest in neurodegenerative diseases. I have been working in a lab at the University of Michigan this semester that does research about Alzheimer’s Disease and I am very excited to apply my knowledge and skills I’ve gained in a clinical setting!"
