The Including Inclusion Expert Symposium was organized as part of the Including Inclusion project led by ITK Leipzig, supported by ITK Macedonia, and funded by the DAAD.
We are proud to share an important milestone from this year’s symposium, which brought together educators, coaches, researchers, practitioners, and institutions dedicated to strengthening inclusion in sport and education.
A Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed between ITK Leipzig from the Sport Science Faculty in Leipzig, represented by Anton Behrens, and the Faculty of Physical Education, Sport and Health in Skopje, represented by its Dean Vlatko Nedelkovski, accompanied by Ivan Anastasovski, the faculty representative responsible for initiating and supporting the cooperation.
This agreement marks a meaningful step toward expanded international collaboration and academic exchange.
The symposium in Ohrid was organized by Martin Mojsovski, an ITK Leipzig alumnus, together with his colleagues and partners, who brought the event to life through strong local coordination and a shared commitment to inclusion.
As part of the DAAD-supported project, the ITK Leipzig working group – Simone Zimmermann (Germany), Martin Mojsovski (Macedonia), David Cupe (Peru), David Bromfield (Jamaica), and online contributors Kamal Benhabiles (Algeria) and Ama Louise Abalo (Togo) – presented the ongoing development of a specialized curriculum for coaches in adaptive and para-swimming.
This curriculum aims to create sustainable, accessible, and professionally guided pathways for inclusive coaching and athlete development across diverse regions.
Our hosts, the Youth Center Ohrid, generously provided their facilities and expertise for the symposium. The center was represented by Jovan Cvetkoski, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of inclusive community spaces in supporting such initiatives.
ITK Macedonia also presented their growing national network and their continued efforts to advance inclusive sports in the country.
Additional expertise and perspectives were shared by Daniel Trbogazov, Jovan Pop-Stefanija, Iskra Roso, Radovan Veljanovski, Ilija Avramoski, and Pavel Balabanov, who contributed valuable insights into therapeutic approaches, adaptive sports, para-sport opportunities, and community support structures.
Thank you to all speakers, contributors, and partners for an inspiring and impactful day.
Together, we continue building opportunities.
Together, we make inclusion in sport and education possible. 💙
