🇸🇪🇲🇰 We were proud to represent We Effect Europe at the networking forum organized by Embassy of Sweden in Skopje as part of the “Embassy on the Road – Sweden is coming to Bitola” initiative.

The event brought together representatives from institutions, businesses, civil society, and international partners to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation, and explore new opportunities for regional development and partnership. 🤝🌍

A sincere thank you to all co-organizers and partners for creating such a meaningful and inspiring space for dialogue, networking, and collaboration.

🇸🇪🤝🌱 Yesterday, we welcomed the Ambassador of 🇸🇪 Sweden, Ola Sohlström, to a special stop on the Embassy on the Road visit, the shared sales point of cooperative members supported by our partners Center for Education and Development - CED and Kooperativa Sharri .

📍 Located in the heart of Tetovo, this shop brings together members of Kooperativa Sharri from across the Polog region, creating a joint space where local producers can showcase and sell their products.

🧺🍯🥕 By joining forces, cooperative members are strengthening their market access, increasing their incomes, and building a stronger, more resilient rural economy. This initiative highlights the power of cooperation in turning local production into sustainable livelihoods.

🏡💼 The establishment of this sales point was made possible with financial support from 🇸🇪 Sweden through the IISEE programme, implemented by We Effect together with our partners. Today, it represents more than just a shop, it is a hub of local entrepreneurship, collaboration, and community spirit.

🙏🇸🇪 We thank Ambassador Ola Sohlström and the Embassy of 🇸🇪 Sweden for their continued support and for taking the time to meet the producers behind these products. Partnerships like these are key to building inclusive and sustainable rural development.

🛡️ 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫🛡️

📍 A major step forward for labour market inclusion has been achieved as our partner, Romalitico - Institute for Research and Policy Analysis successfully completed a training programme in cooperation with the 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 (Комора на Република Северна Македонија за приватно обезбедување), enabling 72 Roma participants to pass their exams and obtain official licenses to work as armed security personnel.

🎓 This activity was implemented through the 𝐈𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞, applying the 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐌𝐒𝐃) 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, ensuring that training efforts are closely aligned with real labour market demand and sustainable sector growth.

📈This achievement opens the door to 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, as companies across the private security sector are actively seeking licensed professionals to join their workforce.

🤝 At the same time, the strong interest within the Roma community highlights the 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 and access to certified training that leads directly to sustainable employment.

🚀 By bridging the gap between training and labour market needs, this initiative contributes to 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 for Roma communities across North Macedonia.

🌾 The We Effect Europe team attended the 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 of the Национална федерација на фармери - National Federation of farmers - NFF, which also served as a key platform to present the 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 (𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲), implemented through 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗠𝗦𝗗) 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵.

🎤 The event brought together key actors from the donor community, various embassies, state institutions, and civil society organisations, highlighting strong multi-stakeholder engagement. 𝗪𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 emphasized that we are building the bridge that helps 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 through quality, sustainability, and strong partnerships.
Our support focuses on strengthening organisations, meeting international standards, improving sustainability practices, and connecting farmers and processors in a way that ensures stable supply, consistent quality, and long term cooperation.

🇸🇪 The event was honored by the presence of Ola Sohlström 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻, who emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties and creating 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 for 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 between Sweden 🇸🇪 and North Macedonia 🇲🇰.

🇲🇰 The event was also attended by 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝘅𝗵𝗮, who highlighted the Government’s commitment to 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, supporting farmers and agribusinesses to meet international standards, and expanding opportunities for export and cooperation with European and Nordic markets.

🌱 Particular attention was given to the 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, where North Macedonia has strong potential to 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 of quality products such as 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 that can meet the high standards and sustainability expectations of Nordic markets.

📈 Discussions highlighted that strengthening cooperation requires better understanding of Nordic standards, quality requirements, sustainability practices, and business culture, while also creating more direct connections between producers, buyers, and investors.

🔗 At the same time, Nordic countries offer innovation, advanced technologies, and investment opportunities that can support the modernization and competitiveness of Macedonian agriculture and food production.

📍 A new milestone for local agriculture has been reached in the 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚 with the opening of the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞-𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 in the Polog region, creating a direct link between local farmers and consumers.

🌾🚜 This initiative enables farmers to 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬, ensuring 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 while offering consumers fresh, locally produced food from the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 region.

🔗🤝 By improving the supply chain, farmers gain 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

🏡👩‍🌾 Beyond being a point of sale, the store will also serve as a meeting and cooperation space for cooperative members, strengthening collaboration among producers and supporting sustainable rural development.

🥔🧺 The store offers a variety of agricultural products produced by farmers from the region, bringing the richness of local agriculture closer to consumers in Tetovo and the wider Polog region.

For decades, women farmers in North Macedonia worked without the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲.
This video tells a powerful story of injustice, perseverance, and positive change.

🎥 Produced by our partner Национална федерација на фармери - National Federation of farmers - NFF as part of the IISEE Programme, the video highlights their long-term 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 and demonstrates how constructive cooperation between civil society and public institutions can lead to concrete and meaningful results for 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀.

📌 How did the challenge of securing maternity rights for women farmers emerge?
📌 Which institutions were involved and how was a temporary solution achieved, while work continues toward a sustainable, systemic one?

We are pleased to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Swedish-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce - SMCC 🤝🇸🇪🇲🇰
This partnership reflects our shared commitment to inclusive growth and provides a framework to seek and develop 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and areas of collaboration between Sweden 🇸🇪 and North Macedonia 🇲🇰, supporting sustainable and equitable development 📈✨

Last week we had the pleasure of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with WeEffect Europe 🤝🏼

The Swedish organization WeEffect has been doing incredible work here in North Macedonia, empowering rural communities, supporting sustainable agriculture, promoting gender equality, and strengthening the socio-economic rights of farmers and marginalized groups. Their efforts include improving market access for small-scale farmers, fostering inclusion of women and youth, and advocating for policies that create lasting and fair opportunities for all. 

This partnership marks an exciting step forward as we join forces to support inclusive development and resilience! 🇸🇪🇲🇰💪🏼
