โ€Ž๐ŸŒ Today marks the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity.
โœ๏ธ This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œActing locally for global impact.โ€ A theme that reminds us of the importance of environmental protection and the role each of us can play at our own level.
โ€Ž๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Madagascar is a true biodiversity jewel. Its natural wealth and unique species cannot be found anywhere else in the world. So, join us in protecting our biodiversity and our natural heritage. Every small action counts and can make a difference.
โ€Ž๐Ÿ€ An annual celebration should inspire an entire generation.
โ€Ž๐Ÿ“ฃ Let us make every day an opportunity to act for environmental protection and the preservation of our biodiversity.

๐Ÿฅฐ As we often say, protecting the environment requires the efforts of each and every one of us.
๐Ÿชต As you may know, our intervention sites, particularly Ivoloina Park and the Betampona Strict Nature Reserve, suffered severe damage following Cyclone Gezani.
๐Ÿ’ฐ โ€ŽFundraising initiatives have been organized, and many people have contributed. To all of them, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
๐Ÿ™ โ€ŽWe would also like to express our special gratitude to the Italian Gekko Association - IGA for their generous contribution through a donation of โ‚ฌ 1,000.
๐Ÿฅน โ€ŽWords are not enough to fully express our appreciation. One thing is certain: your generosity and support will contribute to the rehabilitation of our intervention sites.
๐Ÿ™ โ€ŽA thousand thanks for your solidarity and commitment to environmental protection.

๐Ÿ… This month of May began with a strong sense of honor and pride. After more than 38 years of existence, Madagascar Fauna & Flora Group has been recognized by the government awarding its employees 34 bronze medals, 24 silver medals, and one appointement to the rank of Officier of the National Order for years of dedicated service.
โ˜บ๏ธ These disctinctions reflect the sustained efforts, dedication, and fruitfful commitment of all our teams. They are not merely symbolic recognitions but also represent a lasting collaboration and exemplary collective work and means they will receive higher pension payements on retirement.
๐Ÿฅฐ We exetend our sincere congratulations to all our teams and wish them continued success in the years to come.

๐Ÿ€ As part of its mission to protect and conserve Madagascar's environment and biodiversity, the NGOMadagascar Fauna & Flora Groupp, MFG, is strengthening its close collaboration with local communities. Among its key partners are the communities of Ampasina, Rural Commune of Antetezambaro, organized under theVoi Lรดvasoa Hasignaa.
๐Ÿคฒ Following the devastation caused by cyclone Gezani and its socio-economic impacts on these communities, MFG, through collected donations, carried out a distribution of seeds (rice, corn, and short-cycle vegetables which produce crops within around three months), as well as tarpaulind to membres of VOI Lovasoa, as we have already done for ohter VOIs arounParc Ivoloinana and Betampona.

โ€Ž๐ŸŒ We celebrate today, April 22, World Earth Day.
โ€Žโ—But what if, instead of celebrating it for just one day, we chose to protect it every day of our lives?
โ€Ž๐Ÿคฒ Every action counts in safeguarding our planet. At Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group, through our environmental education initiatives carried out in collaboration with IUCN Save Our Species, students participating in the Saturday school program around the Betampona Strict Nature Reserve took part in a hands-on activity to produce tree nurseries of native and fruit species, which will be planted on their family lands or within school grounds.

โ€Ž๐Ÿ€ Protecting our environment our Earth depends on the responsibility of each and every one of us.

๐Ÿ˜ As planned, from April 14 to 15, the distribution of school supplies to students in public primary schools around Betampona was carried out. Particularly in the Pedagogical Administrative Zones (ZAP) of Ambodiriana and Sahambala.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Following the passage of Cyclone Gezani, we are supporting 7th-grade students preparing for the official CEPE secondary school entrance exam, by providing school supplies, as many of their kits were destroyed.

๐Ÿ™ We extend our sincere thanks to our private donor, especially Zoo Zรผrich and the Gust and Lyn Guhl Foundation, for their valuable support.

๐Ÿ™ A beautiful example of solidarity and mutual support in the service of environmental conservation!
๐ŸŒ€ Following the passage of cyclone Gezan, our site, Parc Ivoloina, suffered significant damage, particularly to the enclosures that housed our lemurs.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Before the cyclone, 75 individuals were being cared for there as part of our conservation and education efforts.
๐Ÿ‘‰ By the end of the cyclone, only 12 remained in these enclosures due to the destruction of the enclosures.

๐ŸŽฏ In response to this situation, an exceptional mobilization has taken place. Thanks to the efforts of our team of Zoo keepers, most of the escaped lemurs have been successfully recaptured and are now safe. Some lemurs are currently being kept in demi-frรจre conditions while the damaged enclosures are being rebuilt.
๐ŸŽฏ We would also like emphasize that keeping these lemurs i' enclosures serves a vital purpose: the conservation/rearing of rare and endangered species, as well as raising public awareness about their protection. These actions actively contribute to preserving Madagascar's unique biodiversity.

๐Ÿ˜” Unfortunately, we lost 4 of our lemurs. Among them were 3 greater bamboo lemurs, Prolemur simus. Both day and night searches have been conduct in Ivoloina Park and its surrounding areas to located the 3 simus.
๐Ÿ“น Camรฉra traps have been installed, and community surveys are being carried out to identify potential leads for their whereabouts.
๐Ÿ™ We warmly thank Help Simus and their partner IMPACT Madagascar for their valuable collaboration in this mission. As well as those working on the ground and the local communities for their contribution particularly through the information and responses shared with our field teams during the search for the missing lemurs.

๐Ÿ™ In this difficult context, every effort counts, and solidarity remains our greatest strength.

๐Ÿ“š Education is a true opportunity for every child to hope for and dream of a better future.
๐Ÿ“š At Madagascar Fauna & Flora Group, MFG, education is also a top priority. This commitment is reflected through the Saturday School program, which supports 7th-grade students in preparing for the official CEPE secondary school entrance exam.
๐ŸŒ€ Following cyclone Gezani, many students face difficulties, particularly due to the destruction of their school classroom and their school supplies.
๐ŸŽฏ In response, MFG, with the support of private donor, provided assistance by distributing school supplies such as notebooks and pens to 7th-grade students.
โณ A programme is in action to help rebuild 2 of our main partner primary school and MFG continues to work to raise funds for our 15 other partner primary schools, which are similarly in dire need at present.
โ˜บ๏ธ On April 10, these supplies were distributed to public primary schools in Vohilava, Ambonivato, Andakolosy and Vohidrotra, partner schools located around Ivoloina.
๐Ÿ‘‰ For schools located around Betampona, the distribution is scheduled for next week.
๐Ÿ™ Many thanks to our partners for their generosity, especially Zoo Zรผrich and the and Lyn Guhl-Stiftung Fondation, for their valuable support.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ March 21, International Day of Forests ๐ŸŒฟ.
๐ŸŒณ โ€œForests and Economiesโ€ is the theme chosen for the celebration of the International Day of Forests 2026.

๐Ÿ€ This theme reminds us of the invaluable role forests play in our lives: they support our livelihoods, contribute to economic development, and are essential to maintaining environmental balance.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group (MFG) actively works to conserve biodiversity and protect forests through a range of on-the-ground initiatives.

๐Ÿ“ฃ On this special day, we would like to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our forests true pillars of biodiversity and our shared future.

๐Ÿ€ The effectiveness of environmental protection also depends on improving the living conditions of local communities.
๐Ÿ€ Through its biodiversity conservation activitiesMadagascar Fauna & Flora Groupup (MFG) also supports community initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of local populations.
๐Ÿ™ Following the passage of Cyclone Gezani, communities have faced serious consequences. Many families lost their homes, while others suffered significant losses of their belongings, particularly their cash crops.
๐Ÿ‘‰ In response to this situation, we answered the call of Mr. Lai Koa Hong Lai Adolphe Randrianarison, known as to support the local communities of the Rural Commune of Ambodiriana.
๐Ÿ™ A huge thank you to โ€œPatron Tanyโ€ for his amazing efforts to bring practical help during one of the most difficult of times locally.

๐Ÿ‘‰ As part of this support, MFG provided 45,000 nursery bags to produce clove seedlings, which will later be distributed free of charge to local communities in 9 fokontany of the Rural Commune of Ambodiriana to replace lost trees and help plan for future sustainable income generation for some of the hardest hit families.
โœ MFG will be following similar approaches in collaboration with our own MFG nurseries and local village association and commune nurseries to produce further replacement agroforestry and native trees to help local community members recover from this disaster.
